Salisbury, North Carolina January 13, 2025 SPECIAL MEETING PRESENT: Mayor Pro Tem Tamara Sheffield, Council Members Harry McLaughlin, David Post, and Carlton Jackson, Jr.; City Manager Jim Greene, Jr., City Clerk Connie B. Snyder; and City Attorney J. Graham Corriher. ABSENT: None. Members of Council met at Bell Tower Green on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. Salisbury Fire and Police Departments presented the colors. Human Relations Specialist Michael Brooks sang Bridge Over Troubled Water. Fire Department Chaplin Dan Peters led the group in a prayer and opening remarks were provided by Mayor Pro Tem Sheffield. Speakers at the event were Urban Design Planner Alyssa Nelson, Assistant City Manager Kelly Baker, Mayor Alexander's son Daniel Almazan, City Manager Jim Greene, and Diversity Equity and Inclusion tol honor the life and legacy of! Mayor Karen K. Alexander. Director Anne Little. A video of! Mayor Alexander's life was presented followed by a candle lighting ceremony. The bell at Bell Tower Green park rang 11 times, once of each year of! Mayor Alexander'sservice to the City. A moment of silence took place and participants were asked to share their memories of Mayor Alexander in remembrance books that will be given to the family.
