The Nuisance Advisory Committee met on November 20, 2024 and discussed "Commercial Truck Parking on Wildwood Avenue.' " The Committee referred the item the Traffic Committee. The Traffic Committee met on December 4, 2024 and on the agenda was a discussion related to "Commercial Truck Parking on Wildwood Avenue. The Committee recognized impaired ordinance language and opted tol look into language changes for recommendation to the City Thel Nuisance Advisory Committee met on. January 22, 2025 and the agenda included "Commercial Truck Parking on Wildwood Avenue" despite the item being referred at the last meeting to the Traffic Committee. Staff decided to re-agendize the item in light of] Facebook posts indicating aj planned discussion at the Nuisance Advisory Committee. Re-agendizing would The Traffic Committee met on January 23, 2025 to discuss commercial truck parking and found that the combination ofal historical lack ofenforcement and poor code language has created a situation that exceeds the duties oft the' Traffic Committee. The committee found that resolution Council. also allow for a Brown Act compliant discussion if one arised. I oft this matter gets into fundamental policy decisions that are the domain oft the City Council. The Staffist recommending that the Council first provide direction on its overall approach to the issue (1)Heavy restrictions on truck parking (2) very few restrictions on truck parking or (3) a middle ground approach that would provide for certain bans and permissions and also a permit process for truck parking. The intent of these off-street parking requirements is to provide for the on-site, off-street parking of motor vehicles associated with any use or uses on the premises. More off-street parking will allow on-street parking to be limited or prohibited to permit greater utilization of streets for moving traffic.
