BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE TOWN OF CONETOE, NORTH CAROLINA JUNE 13H, 2023 The Board of Commissioners oft the Town of Conetoe met in a Regular Meeting on' Tuesday, June 13th, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. in the' Town Hall Council Room at 204 West Church Street, Conetoe, NC. PRESENT ABSENT ALSO PRESENT Town Clerk: Kelly Hunter Commissioners: Jenny Staton-Hinnant and Delane Bryant Commissioners: Clay Webb and Regina Gray 1. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER. AND INVOCATION GIVEN Mayor Pro-Tem Bryant called the meeting to order, and Commissioner Bryant offered the invocation. 2. WELCOME TO CITIZENS Mayor Pro-Tem Bryant acknowledged citizens. She explained that Commissioner Webb was on vacation, and she was unsure as to why Commissioner Gray was absence. She explained that with both Commissioners Gray and Webb absent the Board will not havea quorum and will notl be allowed to vote on any items. 3. PROPOSED AGENDA BY COUNCIL amended due to a quorum not being met. 4. READING OF THE MIINUTES Mayor Pro-Tem Bryant read through the agenda. The agenda was not approved or The minutes were presented by' Town Clerk, Kelly Hunter. The minutes were not able to be approved or amended due to the lack ofa quorum. 5. OLD BUSINESS a. The Upper Coastal Plain Council of Government Executive Board met May 15th. The Chief Executive Officers Report was given and there was a discussion on b. - The State DOT's office contacted us about Highway 42. It has some drainage issues and they have plans to resurface that entire highway within a year and a half. As soon as they give us dates, we will let citizens know. This will require some: rerouting and detouring oftraffic when they come through Conetoe. their upcoming budget. Their next meeting is on June 20th. Yard Waste: Please continue to put loose debris such as: leaves, pine straw, and pinecones in bags if possible. If you're unable to bag these items, please call the Town Hall and leave a message SO that we can inform Mr. Parker when he picks d. The Old Fire Department: We are moving forward with the purchase of the old Conetoe Volunteer Fire Department. We are using the attorney office ofDeloatch & Hinton, PLLC for this purchase. The Aging Conference: The Upper Coastal Plains Council of Government is having their regional conference on aging at Edgecombe Community College. Her son William wrote, "Caletha Howard Barnes is a mother to five boys Most people within the community know her by Cal short for Caletha. She has always been a positive influence and can be called on spiritually when family She has been a faithful member of many churches including Conetoe Baptist Church. She continues to serve God and has been called upon to preach Caletha is 82 years young and has goals of being the pastor of her own church one day as she shows no signs ofs slowing down. PUBLIC COMMENTS a. Mr. Paul Wilkins, Ms. Vivian Haynes, and Mrs. Lakeisha Archer each spoke in regards to the Wilkins Family Rezoning Petition. Their request to have their propertyrezoned was denied at the Regular Board Meeting on May 10, 2023. i. Noi motion was made to close the Public Comments portion ofthe meeting due to no quorum. 10.
