Discussion regarding Fair Labor Standards Act 2025 regulations: Krueger noted this was put on the agenda due to changes to this Act earlier in the year that did not affect our employees at the initial change ofJuly 1, but there would have been a need to make 2 changes to employee pay/status January 1. One ofthose changes was made by starting a new person on step 2 instead of step 1 which brought them over the threshold on January 1,2025 as required at the time. The alternative would have been changing their status to non-exempt, making them eligible for overtime, which would have resulted in greater financial impact to the county. The second position was still in discussion when the United States District Court for the Eastern District ofTexas vacated the Department of Labor's 2024 Final Rule nationwide, reinstating the prior minimum salary threshold. 4. contract.
