Chairman Bell called the meeting to order at: 1:15 p.m. Those present included: Dwayne McFall Kevin Grantham Debbie Bell Amanda Whitt, DHS Board Member Chairman Pro Tem Chairman and Treasurer Present Present Present Also present: Eric Bellas, Fremont County Attorney, Barry Acton, Agency Administrator, Department of Human Services (DHS), MINUTES: Board Member McFall moved, duly seconded by Board Member Grantham, to accept the minutes of the August 27, 2024 meeting with no additions or deletions. Upon vote: Board Member McFall, aye; Board Member Bell, aye; Board Member Grantham, AGENDA: Barry Acton requested an addition tot the agenda to add to Old Business to update CMP FIOG investment. Board Member Grantham moved, duly seconded by Board Member McFall to approve the addition toi the September 24, 2024 meeting agenda. Upon vote: Board Member McFall, aye; Board Member Bell, aye; Board Member Grantham, aye. The motion carried. FINANCIAU/CASEIOAD REPORT: Director Barry Acton discussed the caseload counts and summary budget reports with no noteworthy variances. After discussion, Board Member McFall moved, duly seconded by Board Member Grantham to accept the August 2024 financial and caseload reports. Upon vote: Board Member McFall, aye; Board Member Bell, aye; Board Member DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Director Barry Acton shared a written report regarding the current staff open positions, as summary of the community partners he met with, and events that were attended during the month. Commissioner Bell asked about the re- organization of Child Welfare. Director Barry Acton explained the Child Welfarei teams and how the re-organization benefits the Department. Additionally, Director Barry Acton explained thei floater position andf future plans for that position. Afterat full discussion, Board Member Grantham moved, dulys seconded by Board Member McFall to accept the monthly report. Director Barry Acton gave an update regarding the CMPI FIOG funding to possibly invest money ina a 9-month CD in the near future stating that the department is currently waiting on the auditor to approve or deny ther request. aye. OLDBUSINESS: The mission of the Fremont County Department of] Human Services is to provide support and essential services to enrich the quality ofl life fori members of our community. NEW BUSINESS: Director Barry Acton requested that thel Department's quarterly Professional Development Day for 2025 be changed from the fourth Wednesday every quarter tot the fourth Thursday quarterly as the Court docket is held on Wednesday's and many staff cannot attend trainings. Additionally, Director Barry Acton made ar request to close the building on Christmas Eve at 3:00pm sO1 that staffo could begin the Christmas holiday with their families. After discussion, Board Member McFall moved, dulys seconded by Board Member Grantham to accept the 2025 Professional Development Day change to Thursdays quarterly and closingt the DHS office at 3;00pm on Christmas Eve 2024.
