Mayor Reckart would like to personally, and publicly, thank the Kitzmiller Volunteer Fire Department for taking it upon themselves to patch some of the potholes along main street. For those that did not know, the fire department was fixing some holes in front of the fire department, and had some hot mix left over. They stopped at the mayor's home to ask for permission to fill some of the potholesalong West Main Street. Mayor at this time declared Kitzmiller Homecoming a huge success. He was Announcements: impressed with how many vendors came and at what was all there. Recognized Guests: Dale Lipscomb- Nothing Rita Lambka- Would like to thank Robert and Kenny for all the extra work they had to put into Thomas Vose (Ruth Enlow Library) - Would like to personally thank Beccie for helping come up with a better solution to the handicap access to the library. We will be using a video doorbell to help those who can not make it up the steps to the library, use the access ramp at the cafeteria at the school. Would also like to congratulate the town on finally getting the bathrooms fixed at the school. Diane Kisner (Kitzmiller Branch of the Ruth Enlow Library) - FINALLY, after 2.5 years community action has started to renovate the restrooms that Head Start and the Library use. She would also like to point out that who community action brought in to do the renovation, did a fabulous job at cleaning up after themselves. - For Homecoming, the library had 86 visitors! - For the summer reading club, there are 53 registered. This is the most that has ever beenregistered at the Kitzmiller Branch! - Would like to remind everyone that the Riverwalk Photo Challenge ends August 12th, and she has 30 already registered for that. Diane would also like to point out how much the town employees do, Kenny, Robert Missi Nesselrodt - Personally thinks that this year'shomecoming was the best and biggest homecoming inal long time. There were a ton of vendors! She would like to recognize Beccie for all the hard work that she put into putting homecoming together. - When the fire department came up with a list of things they were going to do, they kept in mind that they were donated a popcorn machine over a year ago and wanted to use it. They didn'tr realize that someone else was already doing popcorn, and they didn't Homecoming and for keeping things cleaned up during the event. and Beccie. Justin Nesselrodt - Nothing mean to step on any toes or try to cut anyone else out. Barb McKenney- - She is sO proud of the nonprofit organizations and local businesses that stepped up to be a huge part of homecoming! She realizes they put in a lot of work and effort into the event and would just like them to know that they are all very much SO appreciated. Extra Thank you. to Beccie for Community Legacy Grant -S Sidewalks - We are currently waiting on the notice to proceed. Which might USDA- -[ Dump Truck - Linda brought down anotherform that needed to be completed. It hasbeen completed. Sam.gov has a known issue of a single entity being given multiple ID numbers. Kitzmillerwas one of them and they are working as quickly as possible to get the issue completed. Project Open Space (POS) - GREAT NEWS! $30,000 forelectrical upgrades in Park. $200,000 for new playground equipment. We were approved! Beccie met with Brandon from Cunningham Recreation to discuss what equipment will need to be removed, how it needs to be done, and will be sending a custom design for Kitzmiller. The plan is to have play equipment geared towards 2-5 years and 5-12 years. Diane The Pond Project We have been in touch with two different contractors about this project and we are Community Action Economic Development Strategic Plan Grant - Garrett County Community Action, Mayor and Town clerk met with Brandon Butler from Pinnacle who was awarded the bid based on the thorough timeline and descriptive information provided. Within the next week, Beccie will be contacting those who have previously been on. the Revitalization Committee to see if they are still interested. If there is anyone that is interested, please give Beccie your Name, Address, and telephone number before you leave this evening. Revitalization meeting is planned for August 16, 2022 at 6:30PM at Kitzmiller HVAC for Museum - Mayor Reckart and Beccie were able to meet with David Cotton to finalize the paperwork that needed to be submitted. We are asking for the least amount, sO we are ALMOST LED Lights - Richie was on vacation and will respond to Mayor Reckart when he returns. Town Clerk Notary - Beccie was sworninasa Notary on Friday, July 22nd. She is now waiting on her putting up all the bows and making the town look beautiful for Homecoming. Grants: be part of the same issue as below. Kisner suggested that we reach out to Head Start to see if they had any ideas. American Rescue Plan Act - Need to set date for Budget Meeting for these funds. waiting on their estimated cost. School Building. guaranteed this approval. Old Business: notary supplies to be delivered. Tree behind the school - Has been cut down and removed. Curb Painting - The guys were able to get the curbs repainted. Third Street Storm Drain - Currently waiting on the estimates from Beitzels and Arnold Brothers. Appalachian Crossroads is looking to use a "commercial kitchen" two days a week to bake cupcakes & brownies to sell. Can we come up with some sort ofagreement for them to be able to use the school during the summer months on Mondays and Fridays? Alan Chadderton is who to contact about this. **Looking to expand what they do with the clients is why they chose Kitzmiller. The Time will be from around 10AM until no later than 2PM. They will supply their own baking necessities and will clean up after themselves. ** Councilmember Nye-Paugh motioned to allow Appalachian Crossroads to use Stop Sign on Centre Street - After further discussion, the council decided to hold off on reinstalling the stop signs on centre street and take a different approach. Councilmember Nye-Paugh motioned to spend up to $300 for "green goblins" and for "Slow Down" signs to be strategically placed in various locations. Councilmember Harvey seconded the motion. 3-0.
