Mayor & Town Council Monthly Public Meeting Date: Monday, October 28th, 2024. Location: Kitzmiller Community Building Time: 7P PM In Attendance: Mayor Robert Reckart Councilman G. Michael Brady Town Clerk Rebecca M. Glotfelty Brady, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Councilwoman Becky Lipscomb (Late) Councilman Cory R. Stieringer X-Councilman Hawk Sick Meeting was called to order at 7:02 PM by Mayor Reckart. The opening prayer was led by Nancy Councilman Brady motioned to approve the meeting minutes from Monday, September 23rd, 2024. Councilman Stieringer seconded the motion. 3-0. Motion carried. Recognized Guests: Corporal Guy: GC Sherriff's Office - Incident Report for September 2024 Includes the following: -2 Patrols; 1 Agency Assist; 1 Crime Scene Processing; 1 Homicide; 1 Animal Complaint (6 Total) Rita Lambka: Resident - Asked if there was a way the town could recycle the water bottles from the water that is being provided by the County Commissioners? Mayor Reckart stated thati it could possibly be done, but we currently do not have the manpower to be able to provide that service, but the Garbage Dump on top of the mountain, does not require you to have a sticker if you are recycling. Rita also asked about the possibility of people setting up on the flood wall for trick-or-treat. Mayor Reckart & Council agreed that we can extend the offer for individuals who Dale Lipscomb: Museum Curator - Dale was able to obtain an 1875 Ledger from the Grist Mill from Paul Mcintyre for the museum. Paul also donated a letter from the. Johnstown Coal & Coke Company. The Brantners' (former owners of the original Kitzmiller Home) also donated Nancy Brady: Resident & Owner of Thrift Shop - Monthly Report for the Thrift Shop includes that they are currently working on obtaining their "Non-Profit" status through the state. Ini the month of September, they were able to bring in $218 and had $500 donated to make a deposit of$718. They spent $333 for funeral dinners, bought and donated $869 worth of Christmas Sweatshirts to the Town to sell. Plans for the upcoming months include making donations to the Town of Kitzmiller, Little League, Kitzmiller Learning Co-Op, & the Veteran's Day Committee. Nancy also asked if the Town had heard anything about installing a wall upstairs to separate the Thrift Shop from the rest of the hall. Mayor Reckart informed Nancy that it was approved through the county as long as we have a licensed contractor complete the work. Diane Kisner (Sick) asked Beccie to present information from the library CONGRATULATIONS to Isaac DeWitt for completing 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. Isaac, you are a superstar! e LEGO Club will meet the 2nd Wednesday of Each month from 4:30 to 5:30 PM. . Please join us for our MD STEM Festival event in November and our Christmas themed activitywith Karen Wood from the University of MD Extension Office in December. e There will be no STEAM Kids in November or December, due to the holidays. . We have to have THREE responses for the Council to vote upon per CDBG guidelines. We currently Responses to the Maryland Inventory of Historical Properties letters that were sent to get this study completed have been received. Again, we are required to have 3 and we currently have two, from Goodwin & Associates and Heberling Associates, INC. We are waiting for a response from EAC/Archaeology, INC. Property was sold at Tax Sale in July. The town is redeeming the property on Bernadine's Behalf. Then we will deduct the amount that is paid from the real have one. Fire Rated Shop Door: Since the maintenance shop was broken into, it was discovered how easily the door to the maintenance shop is manipulated into opening. A new door would be covered with ARP Funds. Beccie was able to research the doors to see what the options would be. Should the Town consider lowering the rental fee because oft the water taking up space and because oft the condition of the floor? Councilman Brady stated that we should keep the fee at $50 because it is still a large space, they still have use of the Kitchen, and the Town is currently working to obtain a grant for the flooring. As far as the water being stored there, there really isn't anything the Town can do about it because technically the County owns the building, and the water is being provided by them.
