NEWVILLE BOROUGH RECREATION COMMISSION REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING JUNE20. 2023AT7:00PM The regular monthly meeting of the Newville Borough Recreation Commission was held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 7:00 PM in the lower pavilion ofthe Newville Community Park. The meeting was started with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by an invocation led by Matthew Kump. The following members were present: Matthew Kump, Ed Sinkovitz, Sandy Brymesser, Mike Fry, Pastor Stephen Melton and Jody Hoffman. Heather and Kaiya aAudette as well as Steve Brymesser were also present. New Business: programs. Welcome: Mr. Kump welcomed Pastor Melton as well as Kaiya Audette. Kaiya is the new assistant recreation coordinator and will be assisting Mrs. Brymesser with the summer park Acceptance ofl Minutes: Ai motion was made by Ms. Hoffman, seconded by Mr. Sinkovitz toa accept the minutes oft the April 18, 2023 meeting. May's meeting was canceled due to al lack of quorum. Motion passed unanimously. June inflatables $1,680.00 Summer Recreation Coordinator Report: Mrs. Brymesser reported that the yard sale held at the Municipal Park was al huge success. A1 total of$960.65 in donations was collected in the two days oft the sale. She also submitted $69.10: in donations that were given during the previous weeks' attendance and the Fountain Festival. Mrs. Brymesser also reported on the table set up at the Fountain Festival and made al lot of contacts there as well with handing out flyers on the program. Mr. Kump would like to thank Mrs. Brymesser for all she does with the summer Date and Ideas: Mr. Kump would like to discuss ideas and dates for a winter/spring promotional event. Mrs. Brymesser suggested considering the Lion's Club fairgrounds as a possible venue. Mr. Sinkovitz suggested the park pavilion with heaters. Mrs. Brymesser would like tol have carriage rides as well as. Kona Ice. Mr. Kump would like to have a schedule set by the time of the preview event and offered his DJ services. Some fall dates were discussed but was determined that an event during that time would be in conflict with other events already program and be recognized for the number ofhours she puts forth. Page1of2 scheduled. Pastor Melton offered the use ofhis church's banquet room. It was decided to look at some Saturday dates for March 2024 and make plans at the next meeting. Old Business: Both the scoreboard and the nonprofit status are still on hold. Mr. Sinkovitz stated that he will contact Mr. McKnight regarding the 501c3 application. Commission: Mr. Kump feels that newly appointed member, Dena Sietz, is no longer interested in participating with the Recreation Commission. Mr. Kump made ai motion, seconded by Mrs. Brymesser to remove Mrs. Sietz as a voting member oft the recreation commission. Motion passed unanimously. It was determined that the position would not be filled. Adiournment: 7:35 PM.A All were in favor.
