NEWVILLE BOROUGH RECREATION COMMISSION REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING JANUARY: 17,2023 The regular monthly meeting of the Newville Borough Recreation Commission was. held on' Tuesday,J January 17,2023 at 7:00 PM ini the Newville Borough Office, 4 West Street, Newville Pennsylvania. The meeting was called to order by Pastor Christopher Faylor, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and invocation. The following members were present: Pastor Faylor, Sandy Brymesser, Matthew Kump, Mike Fry, Ms. Hoffman and Mr. Sinkovitz. Joey Diehl was absent. New Business: Acceptance of Minutes: December 20, 2022 meeting was canceled. The minutes oft the November 15, 2022 were accepted on ai motion by Mr. Fry, seconded by Mr. Kump. All were in favor. Motion passed with five(5)affirmative and zero (0) negative votes. Expired Terms of Commission Members: The members with expiring terms are Scott Penner, Pastor Faylor and Matthew Kump. Both Mr. Penner and Pastor Faylor will not be renewing their terms. Summer Recreation Coordinator Report: Mrs. Brymesser advised the she was advised that Strouse Entertainment is booking quickly. She will have ai meeting soon with Dillon Strouse. She would also like tol be part ofthe interview process for the Summer Recreation Assistant. The first week oft the Summer Program Mrs. Brymesser and Mrs. Diehl had previously discussed have a summer preview festival int the winter. Mrs. Brymesser has reserved Movement Outreach to hold the event on March 25, 2023 from 1PM to 4PM. She would like to approach Phantom Entertainment for inflatables and/or carnival games. She has a dj reserved for music. Mr. Fry suggested involving the Historical Society and possibly offering the horse carriage rides on Chestnut Street. Pastor Faylor suggested also getting Bull Dog Prep involved too. Pastor Faylor would like to have a draft budget for the event. Mrs. Brymesser would like to have a special meeting focusing on the summer preview festival prior to the next Recreation meeting. Pastor Faylor suggested willl begin June 13, 14, 15 with the Faith and Fun Days starting on June 16. contacting local organizations for sponsorships. All were in favor. Motion passed Mrs. Brymesser reported that the concession stand is still in need ofa good cleaning. However, it would need to have the stored chairs and equipment removed. She would like to have shelving installed. Mr. Fry stated that she should contact the scouts to help with the Mrs. Brymesser would like to hold a yard sale at the park in the spring. Ms. Hoffman advised her she must request this through the Borough Council. Their next meeting is January 31,2023 at 7:001 PM. Mrs. Brymesser has a storage unit at Acme Storage and was told by Mr. Potzer that the Borough would cover the cost oft the unit. The unit holds Christmas decorations for the fountain that have not been used in the past three years. Mrs. Hoffman suggested selling with six (6) affirmative and zero (0) cleaning as well as building shelving. the decorations at the yard sale and discontinue renting the storage unit.
