HEARD COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WORK SESSION November 19,2024-5:00P.M. The Heard County Board of Commissioners held a work session on November 19, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. in the Commission Chamber of the Heard County Administration Building. In attendance at the meeting were Chairman Lee Boone, District 3 Commissioner Iris Harris, District 4 Commissioner Larry Hammond, District 5 Commissioner David Walls, and County Attorney Michael Hill. District1 Commissioner Larry Hooks was unable to attend. District 2 Commissioner James Perry was unable to attend in person but participated via phone. Deputy Clerk Susanne Palmer was filling in for County Clerk Katrina Billingsley who was unable to attend due to training. Chairman Boone stated that this work session was called to discuss SPLOST Projects, 911 upgrades, CAD System proposal, Subdivision ordinance and other matters. The Chairman welcomed invited guests Evan Buford from Metropolitan Communications and 911 Director Darlene Shoemake to address the Board regarding the proposed upgrade to the 911 Center. They explained that the current equipment, which has been in use for 12 years, has become outdated, and replacement parts are no longer available. During the upcoming Uninterrupted Power Supply Upgrade, there is a possibility that the existing system may not power back up. Mr. Buford recommended upgrading both the 911 equipment and radios. The proposal for the upgrade is $316,937.90. Lt. Dan Boswell and Lt. Justin Jenkins ofthe Heard County Sheriff's Office, along with Shaun Witner ofI3 Verticals, addressed the Board regarding the benefits of the proposed new CAD system. Sheriff Ross Henry expressed full support for the CAD system from I3 Verticals. The proposal for the system, totaling $1,063,618.50, that includes five years of prepaid maintenance. Informally, all Commissioners were in agreement to purchase the CAD system and the 911 upgrades.
