DEPARTMENT HEADS MINUTES DECEMBER 11, 2024 Meeting to convene with Pledge of Allegiance The Department Heads meeting was called to order by Ashley Hernandez, Emergency Manager, at 8:35 AM with the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance. Those present were Ashley Hernandez, Brandon Beechley, Collin Koop, Cory Wall, Dave Hornung, Heather Morris, Randy Gorton, Stan Hitchcock, Susan Corliss, Theresa Korbelik, Todd) Holmes, Travis Belden, Travis Gale, and Valerie Boyd. Abbey Mullis, Jennifer Gribble, Pam Mills, Scott Stinnett, Shawn Franz, and Terry Hubbell were absent. Department Head Monthly Reports: Administrator- - Theresa Korbelik The budget software, Open GOV, made some changes which required ai new link. Changes can no longer be made in the budget, but you can see the department's actuals in real time, similar to E&R. The E&R: reports will still be emailed out monthly. Let the. Admin office know ifsomething looks wrong. A reminder that the vacation roll over period was changed to June 30th and 120 hours can be held over. Portions of the Strategic Plan have been sent to the Department Heads for reviewand: response returned1 to Theresa by. January 24th. BOCC meeting dates will be on Monday, December 23rd and 30th, SO the agenda items and accounts payable will be due the Friday before. Wednesday, December 18th, will be Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. Ambulance Director Heather Morris Business has been steady this past month. There are two of five AEMT students that will be retesting on Monday. The Kit Carson County EMT Class is in the final stages. There is a possibility oft three becoming part oft the Reserves. Clerk & Recorder - Susan Corliss The over-the-counter business has been slow, allowing the staff to catch up on things and prepare for the year-end items. Portions of Reorg have been sent to the Department Heads for review. Please get additions and corrections to Susan as soon as possible. Commissioner - District 1- Stan Hitchcock Road and Bridge District 1 are busy grading roads. Stan thanked Ashley for finding ways toj pay for the road closed signs and barriers that they are working on. Commissioner District 2 - Cory Wall Business as usual. Road & Bridge District 2 are getting roads fixed after the storm. Vacation time build up is being encouraged to be used during the slower months. Just got back from the National Finals in Las Vegas, working on contracts for the Kit Carson County Pro Rodeo. Al lot of good compliments about our rodeo. 20241211 Department Heads Meeting Page 1 of3 Commissioner - District 3-1 Dave Hornung Road & Bridge District 31 has recovered from the storm and arel busy hauling gravel. Taking vacation time as this is a good time to use it. Chip rock is coming in for next year's projects. The Board ofCounty Commissioners will approve the 2025 Budget during their meeting today. He thanked everyone for using the software because the process went much smoother. Coroner Randy Gorton It's unusually busy with lots oft trips to Ft. Collins. Emergency Manager - Ashley Hernandez There are lots of meetings coming up. Grounds & Buildings - Collin Koop putting up Christmas decorations and lights. Working on bids for next year and a contractor's sheet. The Strategic Plan is starting, sO he will be making his rounds talking with the department heads. Catching up on projects after IT-Todd Holmes Business as usual. There are big things kicking off next year. Notice was given that he will be on vacation during the week of Christmas; he will have his laptop with him but won't be available all the time. ADA compliance meeting from CCI was given by Theresa Korbelik; Logan County is going back to only phone numbers on the website. The Kit Carson County webpage has been updated; he is currently working on the Sheriff's website. The best plan will be to move that content to the county's website. Public Health Director. Valerie Boyd Public Health will collaborate with the hospital to work on the Community Health Assessment due December 2025. We are working on a new grant to sustain our Community Therapy program. Sheriff Travis Belden Business as usual. Two employees have completed post training and will be testing on the 13th. Solid Waste Director - Brandon Beechley Ith has been busy with 155 loads of snowstorm tree damage delivered from Burlington in November; the towns of Flagler & Seibert are taking free loads of trees through the year at the transfer sites. An update on the crushed cement sales was given. Veteran Service Officer - Travis Gale Business as usual. The VA Clinic is looking for a new secretary. The federal VA appointment for Doug Collins is waiting for approval. Adjournment: The Department Heads Meeting adjourned at 9:03 AM.
