The Town of New Market 1793 Town Council Minutes General Session October 10, 2024-7 7:00 p.m. 40 South Alley, New Market, MD 21774 The Mayor and Council of the Town of New Market met in person and virtually via Zoom on Thursday, October 10, 2024, with Mayor Winslow Burhans presiding. Council members were Matt Chance (via Zoom), Chris Weatherly, and Michael Wright Kimble and Rossman were absent. Pat Faux, Zoning Administrator/Town (via Zoom). Planner Shawn Burnett and Tim Rye, Town Engineers; and Steve. Pippin, President, NMCP (via Zoom); Councilmen present The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. ADMINISTRATIVE BUSINESS Motion: Second: Discussion: Public Comment: None Vote: Councilman Weatherly made al Motion to Approve the September 12, 2024, minutes as written Councilman Wright None For-3(Chance, Weatherly, Wright) Against-0 Abstain-0 Absent-2 (Kimble, Rossman) The Motion passed. NEW BUSINESS Reading of bids received for Bid No. 25-001 - Partially Enclosed Pavilion Tim Rye, the Town Engineer, stated that the town received two bids. They were opened and read on the record. Mr. Rye read the base bid price and the contingent item price into the record. unanimous consent, it was agreed that they would accept the bids received, that they would be By readvertised, that the current contract would be modified, and that a few: revisions would be incorporated to solicit new bids. New bids will be due by NOON on November 14, will be opened at the Town Council meeting on November 14th. 2024, and 1 Mayoral Town Council Minutes October 10, 2024 Page 2 of2 Public Comment: Richard Washburn, Architect, CMW Group, Inc, Jimmy Azat, Casey Thompson Mayor Burhans announced that an executive session will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the Main Street Program Manager position. LIAISON REPORTS Councilman Weatherly reported on the Walk to School Day event on October 4, 2024; it was a Councilman Chance reported that there was a discussion of the New Market Bypass at the success. Hel believes that this will become an annual event. Planning and Commission meeting on October 3, 2024 Public Comment: Brooke Donahue, Katie Russell Will Byrd discussed the possibility ofa contest with a $10,000 gift/prize to a winning New Market business to help bring the community back together. This idea will not be funded or advertised by the Town.
