Recommendation: Approve Fiscal Impact: $131,500.00 Funding Source: Band Booster Club /Band /1 Parents SME Grant Background Information: LCCA was awarded a $375,000 grant by the SME Education Foundation through the Georgia Department of Education. This grant provides students with opportunities to acquire training and industry competencies to prepare them for skilled careers in manufacturing. The grant provides equipment, curriculum, professional development, and STEM SME EF is the sole source provider for the resource required by this grant and will fund all required equipment for this training program. Through the SME grant, LCCA willl be provided equipment, supplies, licenses, dues and fees, purchased services, repair and maintenance services, focused extra curricular activities for students and teachers. and all costs associated with student leadership activities. Recommendation: Approve Fiscal Impact: $375,000.00 Funding Source: Georgia Department of Education Heavy Equipment Operator Grant Background Information: LCCA was awarded a Heavy Equipment Operator competitive grant through the Georgia Department of Education for $417,000.00. The grant is designed to train students efficiently, effectively, and safely to become skilled operators of Caterpillar heavy equipment through the use of C.A.T. simulators. This grant will be used to purchase four motion C.A.T. simulators will provide original equipment manufacturer controls; 3 -4-1 monitor screens that will teach operators the same techniques as found on real-world worksites. It is the goal oft thel Mentor Teacher Induction program toj provide support and retain our teachers. The purpose oft the Mentor Teacher Induction Program ist to assist new teachers with the transition to teaching, and support veteran teachers coming in Mentor teachers serve as role models and provide a solid foundation for thei induction teacher success in addition to Teaching and Learning department support. Through the program, induction teachers are provided instructional assistance, guidance and feedback on best practices, state standards, and district initiatives/school practices. The mentor acts as a coach guiding and collaborating with new teachers while building teacher confidence. Iti is difficult to penetrate reinforced concrete and block walls, causing signals to be blocked without additional infrastructure. Upon project completion, relevant policies will be replaced with their updated versions. GSBA legal department has reviewed for accuracy the policies added since the completion oft the 2018 policy revision project and for the presence ofa all required policies.
