MONTGOMERY COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS, AND REGISTRATION (MCBOER) MINUTES-DECEMBER3: 2024 BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT - William Morris, Nakia Brazell, Barbara Clark, Jim Welch, Bennie Sammons and Sheila Cheek, Elections Supervisor Mr. Morris called the meeting to order. Mr. Morris asked Mr. Sammons to open with prayer. Mr. Morris led the members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Morris asked Mr. Brazell to read the Board of Elections' Mission Statement. Ms. Carpenter read the minutes from the November 12, 2024,meeting, and asked if there were any changes or additions. There being none, Mr. Morris made the motion to approve the minutes. Mr. Brazell seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Mrs. Cheek reported the General Election, held November 5, 2024, had been certified with the Secretary of State, and thel Montgomery Board of Education will have a SPLOST According to Mr. Morris, Act No. 614, House Bill 1015 Section 3 states "Every two years, the Board shall appoint or reappoint one ofits members to serve as chairperson for a two- year term." Therefore, iti is time for the Board to elect the chairperson; Mr. Morris Mr. Morris nominated Nakia Brazell as Chairman and Jim Welch as Vice-Chairman. Mr. Brazell and Mr. Welch accepted the positions. The Board members voted to accept the Mr. Morris thanked Mrs. Cheek for her assistance, guidance and exceptional operational Mr. Morris explained and expanded upon his quote from Julius Cesar in the December Agenda Veni, Vidi, Vici translated as ICame, I Saw, and with the help of Our Board members, we Conquered our tasks pursuit of operating a fair, honest and efficient Elections for the citizens of Montgomery County. AlI Board Members actively participated in our Election processes and I highly praise each of these members for their fine efforts. They have served our community exceptionally well. Iam very proud of this Board's Mr. Morris stated that he has several endeavors, projects and personal matters which will demand much of his time. Therefore, with this in mind hel has chosen to resign his position with the Board of Elections and Resignations effective December 31, 2024.
