APPROVAL OFMINUTES: CITYCOUNCIL REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 14, 2024 MAYOR'S COMMENTS: "Let me begin by saying thank you for your service to all our present and past veterans on this Veterans' Day. Our city salutes and recognizes all our veterans on this their special day. A new sign has gone up at Edwards Park and also the newly constructed sign is up at the Larry & Carolyn Summer Recreation facility. Please ride by and tell us what you think oft the new signs. Page 1 of4 Todd Sosebee has cleaned the courts on Ranbar Street where the new pickleball courts will soon be completed. Work has also begun on the High School baseball field where artificial turf Mike Steel is finishing up on the Pink Street renovation near the High School and will soon be repaving this area as well as installing new sidewalks. This was a major undertaking and Mr. Steel has moved over to Hampton Drive to work on yet another major project within our Council Member. Jon Abernethy (city liaison to the ABC board) presented the city with a check ini the amount of $38,313 from the ABC board. This money was surplus from the roof fund that had been set aside for this purpose. These funds will be expended forour Thanks go out to Seth Freeman and his baseball group for the painting project they completed at City Park. This spruced up the exposed pipes atthe entrance to the park. Tickets have been printed for a Boston Butt sale to help raisef funds for two ofthecity's employees namely Kent Ballard in our electrical department and Office Derek Thom. The price of tickets is $45.00 each, and you get a Boston Butt,slaw, andsauce. Pick-up will be on Saturday the 11th between 8 am and 11 am at thec Çommunity Building. On Saturday the 2nd,lattended and spoke at theGrand Reopeningofour local Wal-Mart. A large crowd including our local high schoolcheerleaders were on hand at this celebration. The new renovations within the store are verycustomer friendly and easy to maneuver. This past Friday and Saturday, lattended and spoke at the Grand Reopening of our local MacDonalds. Owner Bud Kuthan, and sonShawnwerepresent and had lots of positive things to say about our city and the projects within our city.City Council Members Jill Puett and. Janice Hovis were present as well as_City-Manager Brian Dalton, and City Clerk Paige Green. The hardwood floors for thegym are scheduled to be installed this week. It will be several days after installation before thefloors will beready for traffic. Registration for basketball has already begun. The league will be available for kids up to gth grade. Recreation Director Hudson has noted that otheri inquiries have alsocome in for other venues to be held in this facility.
