Mr. Ribas-Norman presented a detailed presentation of 15 ceramic pieces donated by Susan K. Talley, from' Washington DC, in memory of her father, Robert H Kaim. The pieces were legally purchased by Mr. Kaim in the 1980s from Amerind Art, Inc., Santa Monica, California. The pieces were presented and divided into three sets; Pueblo and Hopi-Tewa ceramics, Prehistoric ceramics, and two West Mexican pieces. Ricker, is a print from the EPMH Mexicanidad exhibition, in excellent condition. The second donation, from Ginger Warden, includes two S.D. Myers Saddle Company family heirlooms: a saddle and a pistol case, both in excellent condition, which fit well within the Museum's early EI Paso collection. Edward Hayes, Director, addressed the Board to introduce the agenda item and to welcome a new staff member, Ariana Garcia Varela, Assistant Curator. Michael Reyes, Senior Curator, addressed the Board and presented four proposed acquisitions for the Museum's permanent collection. The first is a gift from Villis Inde, executor for the estate of Lineaus Lorette, featuring a piece by artist Cecilia Visser titled Next Tide. The second is a gift from Brooke Olson of an oil on canvas by artist Hari Kidd titled Woman Capturing Snake. The third gift isf from artist Mark Messersmith, an artwork titled August Nighta at the Boat Ramp. The fourth acquisition isap purchase of Selena #4, a chromogenic print by. John Dyer. Carolyn Yanez, Cultural Development Coordinator, addressed the Board to provide an update on the final report for the fiscal year 2024 cultural funding program. She highlighted three program categories: the Operating Support Program, the Arts Activate Program, and the Artist Incubator Program. For fiscal year 2024, a total of $200,500 was awarded, funding eight artists and sixteen organizations, with a final attendance count of 84,408, marking a significant increase over the previous year. Carolyn Yanez highlighted several key grantees and successful projects, including senior musicians' concerts and art education initiatives, showcasing the program's positive impact on the community. She highlighted Chalk the Block, heldr recently on October 11-13, with over 50,000 attendees and a new cohesive layout incorporating both thel MACC and La Nube sites. The event featured local and national artists, including al brand-new popular People's Choice Award where people were able to vote online. Lucero Duran then discussed the upcoming Dia de Los Muertos event on November 2, with a new parade route beginning at City Hall, and provided details about the upcoming WinterFest Market, running November 23 to January 5, with over 50 vendors each week. Finally, Ms. Duran introduced the Lunar New Year celebration, scheduled for February 1, 2025, at the El Paso Museum of History, noting its potential as a growing signature event. He then highlighted the success of the recent Dig into the Paste event for Texas Archaeology Month, which drew close to 100 attendees. Mr. Ribas-Normand. also provided details about the Museum's involvement in upcoming Dia de Los Muertos events, including details about the group participation int the parade. Additionally, he noted the plans for Native American Heritage Month, with a revised speaker lineup, and announced a new exhibit, Sun Sparkle-Pueblo. Micaceous Pottery, opening in December. Erica Marin, Director of the Museum of History, addressed the Board, sharing the Museum's doubled attendance year-to-date, whichi is largely due to the reopening of Cleveland Square. She highlighted several Dia de Los Muertos upcoming events. Lastly, Ms. Marin announced a collaboration with the Mexican American Cultural Center to activate Cleveland Square Park during the Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 5:01 pm.
