REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING CITY OF KARNES CITY AUGUST 27, 2024  STATE OF TEXAS) COUNTY OF KARNES) CITY OF KARNES CITY)  On this 27th day of AUGUST 2024, the City Council of the City of Karnes City, Texas convened in a Regular Monthly Meeting at 6:001 P.M. in the City Hall with the  following members answering to "Roll Call":  Mayor-Leroy T. Skloss Mayor Pro-Tem - Jimmy D. Loya and Donald Dziuk  Councilmembers: Lillian Lyssy, Helen Hernandez, Aaron Rosales  Councilmembers absent: Aaron Rosales  Others present: City Secretary (CS) Veronica Butler, Chief of Police Roel Salas, Haylee Jurgajtis, Kevin Moehrig, Jessie Lopez, David Wiatrek and Melanie Johnson. C.U.S. Pledge of Allegiance and Texas Pledge of Allegiance  Moment of Silence/Prayer  D. Public Comments - Melanie Johnson would like to inform the council she would like to purchase a piece of furniture the city has. She also informed the Council of the  status on the park benches. E. Consent Agenda: (1) Minutes  a. Discuss and consider approving the minutes from;  July 23, 2024 August 6, 2024 August 20, 2024  (2)I Discuss and consider monthly reports from City Departments.  After further discussion, a motion was made by Councilmember Rosales and seconded by Councilmember Lyssy to approve the Consent Agenda. The vote was 5 -0 in favor and  the motion was declared unanimously passed.  F. UNFINISHED BUSINESS (CONSIDER AND ACT UPON):  (3) Discuss and take possible action on preparation for Founders Day event on December 14, 2024 - Haylee went over the preparations for founders day. NEW BUSINESS (CONSIDER AND ACT UPON):  (5) Discuss and take possible action on designating Founders Day as a special event and to authorize the sale ofalcoholic beverages - Haylee informed the Council this is a yearly item. After further discussion, a motion was made by Councilmember Loya to designate founders day as a special event and to authorize the sale of alcoholic beverages. The vote was: 5-0: in favor and the motion was declared unanimously passed. (6) Discuss and take possible action on whether the city wishes to proceed with a request from Lee Garcia, Jr to close the city-owned alley located on BLK 9 between Travis and Bowie Street, Karnes City, Texas - No discussion, no action taken. (7)) Discuss and take possible action on whether the city wishes to proceed with the proposed dedication of Brosig Drive to the City - CM Butler informed the Council of the issues with the driveway permit off 123 and the narrow entrance off Riddleville. The (8) Discuss and take possible action to approve the estimate in the amount of $21,580 from MTZ. Metal Buildings & Porch LLC to build a shade structure over police parking area at City Hall, located at 1007 N. HWY 123, Karnes City, Texas- Haylee informed the Council the contractor is asking for all cost ofi materials up front, he will not start work unless it is paid in full. After further discussion, a motion was made by Councilmember Rosales and seconded by Councilmember Hernandez to approve the estimate in the amount of $21,580 from MTZ Metal Buildings & Porch LLC to build a shade structure over police parking area at City Hall, located at 1007 N. HWY 123, Karnes City, Texas. The vote was 5-0 in favor and the motion was declared unanimously (9) Discuss and take possible action to approve the estimate in the amount of $10,321 from MTZ Metal Buildings & Porch LLC to build a shade structure over the motors and generator at the City's Water Plant, located on W Schleicher Street, Karnes City, Texas - Mayor presented the estimate, after further discussion, a motion was made by Councilmember Hernandez and seconded by Councilmember Lyssy to approve the estimate in the amount of$10,321 from MTZ: Metal Buildings & Porch LLC to build a shade structure over the motors and generator at the City's Water Plant, located on W Schleicher Street, Karnes City, Texas. The vote was 5-0 in favor and the motion (10) Discuss and take possible action to approve the City Manager's recommended list of personal property items as surplus and to authorize the public auction of such items in compliance with Chapter 2.36.110 oft the City Code - CM Butler presented the list of2 pick up trucks and a trailer.
