Pastures Recreation Area, alsol known as Longdale. Mr. Tim Yancey for alll his gracious service andy volunteer work tot the City ofCovington Fire, Rescue and EMS. He stated that isl has been aj pleasure andj joyt to work with' Tim. Over they years Tim has been quick to1 respond to City Halli for bloodp pressure checks, etc... including advising Mr.] Dressler tos seea doctor. He alsot thanked) Mr. Yancey for his volunteering with youth league sports. Hej presented Mr. Yanceya plaque andg gift for 14, years' service as employee at the) Firel House, however his number ofyears are many more while volunteering att the Firel House. Mr. Dressler notedt thatl Mr. Yancey would oftenl leave a church service tog go on a call. Chris Smith, Covington Chiefo of Police/Director of Public Safetys stated that he appreciated allt the time together with Mr. Yancey. Greg Burton let everyone know that Mr. Yancey was a fremendous help to the volunteers and! he appreciated alll his service and congratulated! him onl hisI retired. C. W. The City will close ati noon for The Wall That Heals, Vietnam Veteran memorial, was in Covington Oct. 3-6, 2024. This was an honor tol have this eventi in our area, The truck bringing in the wall came through Clifton Forge with their streets full ofcitizens andi into Covington with both giving them a warm welcome. Mr. Dressler thanked all the many, many volunteers that assisted. The volunteers that assisted in assembly/disassembly were tremendous as some ofthes sections of the wall were 80 pounds. The wall was open 24/7. Mr. Dressler thanked thel Police Chiefi for escorting the truck into and out oft the City. Mr. Dressler asked Lisa Worley with) Parks & Recreation to come to the podium. Het thanked Ms. Worley for alll her work with thel Parks) Department and assisting the City Manager's office over her many years ofs service. Mr. Dressler stated that he is pleased to announce that Ms. Worley is appointed as Director ofParks & Recreation, Ms, Worley thanked! Mr. Dressler and Mr. David Bryant for believing in her ability that she can dot thej job. Appointments There was discussion that Corey Bowles and) Kim Jefferson arei interested inl being ont the Social Services board. Greg Martin has resigned. This term expires July 31,2026. Ms. Bowles stated that shes remains interested in being ont the Social Services board. Shel has beena foster parent, workedi inj public education for many: years, havet training on various programs and projects. Shel believes that shei is able to! helpt the community and citizens.
