Call to Order Mr. Wilkinson called the meeting to order with a quorum present. Agenda Item II. Approval of Minutes On a motion made by Ms. Mastracco and carried, the Board approved the July 17,2024, meeting minutes. Agenda Item III. Administrative Board Report B. Mr. Felts had no other items to report. Agenda Item V. Director's Report A. Approval oft the Home-based Care Policy A. The Board of Supervisors approved David Felts as Administrative Board. Ms. Morris deferred to Ms. Murphy. Ms. Murphy informed the Board oft the DARS requirement to have an updated Home-based Care Poliry agierga.fo Home-Based Care Services and presented the updated policy to the Board, Onar motion made by Mr. Felts and carried, The Board approved the Home-based Care Policy. B. State of the. Agency (SOTA) address The State of the Agency address was completed on July 31, 2024. It was reported the agency is doing well overall, and the State Consultants are very pleased with the leadership team and performance of the agency. A copy ofthe SOTA address is available for The Board. Mr. Foster and Mr. Wilkinson were able to participate in the meeting and found it to be informative. : 51 .C Get to know The Board Starting at the next meeting, Ms. Morris would like The Board to provide information about themselves to include backgroundesperienee, why did youl decide to serve on the board, how you see yourself advoçating for Amelia DS$, etc. D. Fundraisers 595 Mr. Harvie had approved. Amelia DSS to have an internal school supply drive for Amelia County Public Schools and a food drive for the Amelia County Food Pantry. The school supply drive was completed in August and delivered to the schools who were very appreciative oft the extra supplies. The food drive will be Ms. Morris will begin a donation drive for discretionary funds under special welfare. Our agency purchases goods and services needed to meet needs until other resources can be accessed. She plans to send out brochures no later than Mr. Wilkinson asked if we would contact local churches for donations and would like to take information back tol his church. Ms. Morris would like the in September during Hunger Action Month (HAM). December. Board to be prepared to advocate for the donation drive. E. Service Pins /1 Recognition Ms. Heather Dalton was recognized for her 5-year anniversary on January 1, 2024. ADMIN: F. Unit Updates - FY25 1St Quarter Report. (June, July, & August) We are working with the Sheriff's office to conduct fingerprint criminal background checks on all current and new employees. Currently iti is recommended that all staff are screened due to the contact employees have with children, elderly and disabled. However, effective. January 1, 2025; all employees will need an initial background check, as well as a new background check every five years. This expense was included Ms. Tammy Gangwer, Administrative Services Manager, would like to send a shout out tol Ms. Kristal Smith, Administrative Program Assistant II. She is typically the first face and voice our citizens encounter when visiting and contacting our agency. She does an exceptional job of greeting and assisting clients while completing her other daily tasks. Oné ofther many responsibilities she has is the monthly submission certifications to the state regarding agency positions and salaries. We were complimented on the accuracy and timeliness ofthese reports during the SOTA in. July. Her dedication and hard work ini the FY 25 budget from the state. are truly appreciated! June 1 thru August 31, $30,723 TANF benefits have been issued serving roughly 25-30 families. There are currently 5 fraud cases "In Progress" status and 4 fraud referrals in "New" status. Ms. Miller stated there are 2 workers currently working Fraud: on the fraud cases. Special Welfare Energy Assistance (local donated funds) There were 10 households assisted June 1 thru September 9, 2024, with Ms. Morris stated Ms. Monica Wilkerson has reached out to Dominion Energy and has been able to secure an additional $2,000 for funding for $2,921.60 in funds provided. the Energy Share program. Interpretation and Translation Assistance Ms. Emma Snowden has been able to provide interpretation and translation assistance 38 times from June 1 thru September 9. Staffyacancies: There have been 3 resignations since June 2024. AI BPS position has been filled by Ms. Casey Swearengin. The Human Services Associate II will start on October 1, 2024. The vacant BPS position has been posted. Ms. Murphy updated The Board on the Family Services unit. The following FAMILY SERVICES: services were provided to member of the community. Foster Care: There are currently 5 children in foster care: 3 Adoption, 11 Relative Placement, 11 Independent Living/Fostering Futures CPS: The Family Services unit received 17 complaints (9 Valid, 8 Invalid, &6 6 Continued Family Assessments and Investigations). In-home: Prevention Referrals: APS/AS: Guardianship 3 2 There were 26 APS Reports (13 Investigations, 13 invalid). The FSS unit had 20 requests to conduct Long Term Care screenings. Eleven oft those were completed, 2 being in September, seven were not 17 completed per the client request. nformation/Referral: 46 Ms. Nora Barta, Family Services Specialist, completed her one-year Ms. Lynn Murphy will be providing Mandated Reporter training September 26, 2024, to our emergency Services community partners. probationary period on September 1, 2024.
