The Council oft the City of Creola, Alabama, met in the Creola City Hall at 5:30 p.m. A workshop was held before the Council Meeting at 5:30 pm. Present at the meeting was Harold Parmer, Mark Howell, Wendy Lynch, Cody Chambless, Kendal Hadaway, and Mayor Nelson. Items that were discussed were the Tobacco Ordinance, Hire Police Officer, Approval of Raceway Liquor License, Cody Chambless leave ofa absence, 4th ofJ July Meeting, Fire Chief position, Fire Department Bylaws, Summer Students/Help, Zero Turn Mower for Street, Street Vehicle, Creax Road Paving, Sprinkler System, Police Ammo, Fire Truck, Police Officer. The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 p.m. The regular council meeting was called to order by Mayor Don Nelson at 6:00 p.m. We were led inj prayer by Mrs. Ellen Leslie. Thel Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Don Nelson. Roll call was taken by City Clerk Marcy Brown. Present at the meeting was Mark Howell, Harold Parmer, Kendal Hadaway, Wendy Lynch, Cody Chambless, and Mayor Nelson. City Attorney Item #5 -Approval of the Minutes - - The minutes of the April 27, 2023, regular meeting minutes were reviewed. Mr. Howell made a motion to accept the minutes as written. Mr. Parmer Danny Mims was also present. seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was carried. Item #6- Financials/BillList- in favor and the motion was carried. Mayor Nelson gave an update on the finances and bank balances. Mr. Chambless made a motion to approve the bank balances as of5/25/2023 as presented. Mrs. Lynch seconded the motion. All f. g. County Agreement for supplies = Mr. Parmer made a motion to approve the contract with Mobile County Commission allowing Creola to purchase supplies at the county cost. Mr. Chambless seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was carried. 2023 Business License - After a discussion regarding raising our business license rates, Mr. Howell made a motion to suspend the rules for immediate consideration for approval ofOrdinance 2023-002 Business License. Mr. Parmer seconded the motion. Roll Call: Mr. Hadaway Yes; Mr. Howell - Yes; Mr. Parmer Yes; Mrs. Lynch = Yes; Mr. Chambless - Yes; Mayor Nelson - Yes. The motion was carried. Mr. Hadaway made a motion to approve Ordinance #2023-002 Business License update. Roll Call: Mr. Hadaway - Yes; Mr. Howell - Yes; Mr. Parmer Yes; Mrs. Lynch - Yes; Mr. Chambless Yes; Mayor Nelson Yes. The motion was carried. Mr. Howell seconded the motion. Item #9- Citizens to Address Council - Item #10 - Mayors Comments - Mayor Nelson stated that the State Bureau of Investigation was looking at the evidence located at the police department since we had a change over in the handling oft the evidence. There was going to be a meeting regarding the soccer field lighting on Mr. Chambless made a motion to adjourn. Mrs. Lynch seconded the motion. All in favor and June 6 and the sprinkler system for Veterans memorial was being worked out. the motion was carried.
