MAGISTRATES Linda Hoiles Christie Bryant Minutes of the City of Creola Council Meeting Thursday, October 26, 2023 Creola City Hall Meeting 6:00 P.M. The Council of the City of Creola, Alabama, met in the Creola City Hall at 5:30 p.m. A workshop was held before the Council Meeting, at 5:30 p.m. Present at the meeting were Kendal Items that were discussed were the Cleanup Oak Tree Area, plaque for Christmas Tree Sponsors, Trinkets for Lemoyne Community Day, Christmas Decorations, John Deere Deck, and the EEP Hadaway, Harold Parmer, Wendy Lynch, and Mayor Pro Tem Mark Howell. Fire Bill. The meeting was adjourned at 6:00pm p.m. The regular council meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem Mark Howell at 6:00 p.m. We were led in prayer by Carl Walker. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Pro Tem Roll call was taken by City Clerk Marcy Brown. Present at the meeting was Kendal Hadaway, Harold Parmer, and Wendy Lynch, and Mark Howell. Mayor Nelson and Cody Chambless were Mark Howell. absent. City Attorney Danny Mims was also absent. Item #5 -Approval of the Minutes- The minutes of the October 12, 2023, meeting was reviewed. A motion was made by Mr. Parmer to accept the minutes of October 12, 2023; the motion was seconded by Mrs. Lynch. All in favor and the motion was carried. Item #6- Financials/Bill List- The bills were discussed. Mrs. Lynch made a motion to accept the bill list for October 26, 2023, as presented. Mr. Parmer seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was carried. The financials were discussed. If anyone would like to see the reports, they are welcome to stop by the city hall. Bank balances were presented. Mrs. Lynch made a motion to accept the financials as presented for October 26, 2023. Mr. Parmer seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was carried. Item #7- - Departmental Reports- Police Dept.- Sg. Stated that the two (2) new Tahoe's are in and that they have ordered the ammo that was previously approved in a prior council meeting. Quotes were being sought for scopes on the AR15's that had been preciously approved and need to be ordered. Fire Dept. -Chief Moye presented a bill from EEP in the amount of $3339.61. Part of the bill, ($1650) had already been approved but he needed the $750 and $393.61 approved to repair the Mr. Hadaway made a motion to approve the EEP bill in the amount of $3339.61. Mr. Parmer LeMoyne Water had given money to go towards the purchase of turnout gear. Flynn Christian has been remodeling the fire station. Asst. Russell Stanley has been in fire school getting Park Dept. - The paving of the two (2) entrances to the park will be started next week. Changes had been made to the disc gold course which went well. The batting cage is almost finished, and thei installation of the park lights will begin in November. The last game of soccer for the season SAIL Center Dept - Discussion is still being made on replacing the cabinets in the Center. intake hose and sensor. seconded the motion. Zoning Board. No report presented. Public Works Department - Mr. Sellberg stated that the John Deere Zero Turn #1 had a deck that needed repaired. Mr. Parmer stated that he would be able to help with the repairs, but it Councilman Hadaway made a motion to spend up to $1,500 to purchase the parts necessary for the repair. Christmas Plaque - Mrs. Lynch is getting quotes from Explosive Signs for a plaque showing all the sponsors that donated towards the purchase of the city Christmas tree. Prices will be presented at the next council meeting. 2 b. Christmas Decorations - Mr. Hadaway made a motion to allow spending $500 for the purchase of Christmas lawn decorations from Sam's. Mr. Parmer seconded the motion. Trinkets For LeMoyne Community Day - Cups and pens have been ordered for the city to pass out at the Community Day being held November 4, 2023. Mayor Pro Tem Howell gave permission to order them since we only had one (1) week before All in favor and the motion was carried. Community Day.
