A. CANTU CITY ATTORNEY: PUJA BOINPALLY Mayor Alexandercalled the Special Meeting to order at 1215p.m.aferdeclaring aq quorum present. FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS: 1. Discuss/Act upon School Resource Officer (S.R.O.) Agreement between the City of Fort Stockton & Fort Stockton Independent School District. City Attorney Boinpally explained there was an issue with the language concerning the removal or replacement ofa School Resource Officer (SRO). Should the Independent School District find a School Resource Officer unsatisfactory, the Independent School District will provide written documentation from the Superintendent or their designee to support the request for removal & replacement of the School Resource Officer. The new language should satisfy the needs ofboth parties. The rest of the agreement is standard. The term is for one (1)year, with automatic renewal. There is a section that reads an unscheduled school closure shall not relieve the Independent School District ofa any responsibility under this Agreement. City Manager Rodriguez advised everyone the Agreement would be effective Council Member Falcon inquired about the responsibilities oft the SRO. Chief of Police Lujan responded the SRO's responsibility would be strictly law Council Member Falcon asked ifthey would be tied into Cop sync. Chief of] Police Lujan responded that the SRO's would be tied into Cop sync. Council Member Falcon inquired ifthe! SRO's would be required to attend games. ChiefofPolice Lujan explained that it would be the responsibility oft the Chiefof Police or the Assistant Chief of Police to assign additional personnel to attend once the Independent School District Approves it. enforcement duties.
