MINUTES Troy Recreation Board Meeting Wednesday, September 18, 2024 4:00 p.m. Hobart. Arena Members Present: Marty Hobart, President; Tom Dunn, Vice President; Ashley Reed, Secretary; Eric Herman Kenneth Siler, Director of Recreation and Carrie Slater, Assistant Director ofRecreation. and Lindsy Fisher. Others Present: The meeting was called to order by the President oft the Recreation Board, Marty Hobart. The minutes oft the. August 21, 2024 Troy Recreation Board meeting were read. It was moved by Mr. Dunn and seconded by Mrs. Fisher that the minutes be approved as read. Motion carried. The. Director informed the board that all recreational programs are completed with the exception of soccer, which is in full swing and hockey is just getting up and running. Hockey practices Float' Troy ended a week and a half ago. Total reservation numbers were about the same as last year. There were some cançellations due to extreme heat. The last weekend water levels were a The board reviewed a list of upcoming arena events. The Director informed the board that there is one potential pending event. He has been working with Honeywell who has promoted five shows in the arena. They have a venue in Indiana. They also promote in other venues. They have done. Alice Cooper, 38 Special, Night Ranger and two or three others shows. The Director said in the past hel has looked at this as aj partnership with them. The arena is struggling to get events and it's a bonus that they bring events to the table for the arena. The Director continues to get emails with from them weekly looking for opportunities. They are looking at potentially one more event in 2024. The list ofupcoming events will be the list for the rest oft the calendar year. Zach Williams is selling well. Fall ice started last Wednesday. There have been some issues with the refrigeration system. The refrigeration company was here on and off for about a week tol help get it going. Funding has been approved in 2024: for the condenser replacement. The equipment was ordered and it takes about 10-12 weeks to come in. The Directori is hoping the equipment arrives at the beginning ofNovember. The: following Saturday the Pink Ribbon Girls willl hold an event in the Bravo Room, which has been held since the Bravo Room has been open. There are quite a few upcoming Mr. Hobart asked if there was any update on the lighting system. The Director met with the lighting representative about a week and al half ago. He is waiting tol hear on what some oftheir proposed solutions may be. He plans to follow-up this week to see what they may have come up The Director informed the board that the dehumidifier project was completed. There have beena few issues with programming. They were back again today. Sidney Electric was very good to The Assistant Director reviewed a year-end review for the Troy Aquatic Park for 2024. 2024 concluded the 20th season for the new pool. It was a good year. There were 83 staffmembers including herself. There was an increase of7 lifeguards from last year. There was 86 days of operation. Thej pool only closed 3 days due to weather. There were 361 lifeguards on staff. There was 17: first year 15 and 16 year olds, which was a challenge getting them used toj policies and procedures since this was their first job. The city allowed the hiring of15 year olds, which was al huge help. The pool was able to offer water aerobics, which had al large increase in participants from 2023. The swim team had 159 participants this year. It was an increase from 102to1 159. It was the highest number the team has ever had. It was a great year, They went undefeated and won the championships. Swim lessons were down a little. The Assistant Director said she is still struggling with qualified staff to teach swim lessons. The number of participants allowed to register was based on the amount of staff she had. She is hoping some of the newer younger kids hired will get involved with teaching the lessons. Five hundred seventeen (517) pass were sold for the 2024. The goal is always 500 passes. Attendance was high this year. There was at total of39,182, which includes daily admission and season pass attendees. There was an average attendançe of455. Private Party rentals had 5 this year. There are 6or 7 nights on Saturdays available for rental. There is also the Party Deck, whichi is located off of thei main deck and is available for rent by the hour. It was very successful again this year. The Boogie Board Café brought in $107,608 ini revenue. Thisi is the first summer in a couple of summers where a Food and Beverage Manager was on site. The new Food and Beverage Manager did a great job with everything. The. Assistant Director was very thankful tol have Danielle on board. It was a very successful summer with the concessions. About $23,000 in profit was brought in from that area of the pool, which helps with revenue and expenses for the pool. The board reviewed proposed rates for 2025. The. Assistant Director would like to propose as slight increase for all levels ofs season passes. Itwill help cover employee increases. She would also like to raise swim team registration fees slightly. It was moved by Mr. Dunn and seconded by Mr. Herman to slightly increase proposed swim team registration fees and season events ini the Bravo Room. with as options. work with. pass rates. The board did not recommend it. Mr. Herman said the Carrie and Ken do a great job with the pool and arena, The Director informed the board that staff replaced all restroom partitions. He would like to put the old partitions on GovDeals. It was moved by Mr. Hobart and seconded by Mrs. Reed toj put The Directori informed the board that he and Carrie have a budget meeting scheduled for next Thursday. He said thel biggest challenge will be related tol hiring an additional much needed operations staff member. He provided them with ajustification that he had put together.
