Glotfelty Meeting Called to Order: 7:02PM; Open with Prayer: Led. by Nancy Brady; Pledge to the Flag: Mayor Reckart Approval of Minutes from February 28+,2021 - Councilwoman Nye-Paugh Motioned to accept the minutes. Councilwoman Harvey seconded.3 3-0. Lt. Colt Ruby - 13 Incidents to report for the Month of February. Recognized Guests: Heather Berg-Kitz. Emp. Group: - Thereare 741 total youth in the Kitzmillerarea. The Health Department lost the Funding for the Empowerment Group; however, we are still planning to have the Empowerment Group as a civic association. We will still have funding available from the health department until the end of June. Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be on Aprilg 9th, 2022 from 8A1 to 11A. We are still in need of volunteers, The Easter Egg Hunt Registration will begin at 11:30A, with the hunt to begin at Noon. Our Annual fishing Rodeo is being planned for May 20th,2022. Also, congratulations to Briella DeWitt winner of an honorable mention. Their bookmarks will be printed and made available at all branches of the Ruth Enlow Library April 4th, 2022. Well done, Kambria and Briella, we are sO proud of youl -To celebrate Garrett County's150th, Anniversary and National Library Week, Kitzmiller Library will be hosting, "Dinosaurs Rock" Museum Show, on Tuesday, April 5th, from 10:30A to 11:30A, in the Kitzmiller School cafeteria. Come experience lifesize and genuine dinosaur specimens. Plan for an interactive, fun, and educational show with a loose fossil dig and real take-home specimens. Everyone is welcome to atténd and is FREE to the public.- On April 7th, 2022, all branches of the Ruth Enlow Library will be participating in "Chalk it Up to Civility: A Community Collaboration." Everyone is encouraged to use sidewalk chalk to create messagès and works of art throughout the day to express shared positive values. - Lego Club will be on Wednesday, April 2nd from 4:30p to 5:30p. - Cover2Cover Book Club will meet on April 11th at 6PM. This month we are readying The Glass Castle by. Jeannette Walls. -STEAM Kids will meet on April 27th of this month from 4:30p to 5:30p, and we will be joined by Karen Wood. Announcements: Homecoming Planning & 150th Anniversary of GC; Next Meeting April 7th @ 6:30 @ Coal Bucket. Town Guys, Kenny & Robert, have been cleaning out the race and pulling a lot of the wood out ofit. Anyone who would like to take some, is more than welcome to. It must be gone before June 1st. The Garrett County Commissioners have graciouslyaccepted to pay the second half ofthe Firework amount for Homecoming. Grants: Community Legacy Grant - Sidewalks; We are waiting on official grant paperwork. USDA-Dump Truck; They responded today by email, stating that they need more information. Project Open Space (POS) - Pond; We may have to find someone else to do the pond work. The gentleman we got the original estimate from has been sick. Mayor Reckart will be reaching out to Well Connected Communities - Picnic Tables are put together; will be placed next week. Heather Berg & Mayor Reckart will inspect the school grounds to decide the best place to place these. American Rescue Plan Act - Final Rule has been submitted; Apps for Non-Profits are Available, and we Drug Free Communities Grant - For Yearly Events, Heather Berg is going to be helping Beccie with this. Community Action Economic Development Strategic Plan Grant - This will be used for Economic someone. have them here with us tonight. wo0 Nancy Brady has volunteered to help with this as well. Revitalization Study. The amount available for this grant is $15,000.00 Old Business: LED Lights - Mayor Reckart spoke to Richie last week, when our current contract expired. Richie stated that all the parts are on order. It will be a longer process than they would have liked because there are parts that are on backorder. Once they receive the parts for 1 to 2 lights, they will be coming to replace 1to 2 lights. Councilwoman Nye-Paugh asked about the red x'd utility poles, and when they would be coming to replace them. Mayor Reckartsaid he had also spoke to Richie about these too. They do not have a "funding" for the replacement of older poles, that the funds to replace these come from extra Storm Drainage at Mike Hechmer's 1 We are waiting on the County Engineer to finish up his drafts for this. 3rd street has been designed by the county engineer, and we are now waiting to be put on the schedule. Mike Hechmer stated. that due to the increase in water: shed that goes through his yard, his garage wall has buckled from the water damage. Nancy Brady asked if there was a way to be able to move this situation up on the priority list? Mayor Reckartstated that we can try, but therearen no Mountain Maryland PACE - Mayor Reckart was able to speak with someone from the State Roads Department about the ditches and guardrail issues coming into town on Rt. 38. There is now a repair plan from Vindex Rd all the way down to the Bridge crossing the river into Blaine, WV. We will be getting monthly reports about where the state roads are at with this project, and to look at it as a 5-year plan. Mayor Reckart was also able to speak with the Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources about doing everything we can do to help tie the Town of Kitzmiller into Wolf Den State Park. Union Street Bridge - Waiting on Signage for the bridge because there has been a weight limit placed on it. We will also be producing a letter for the Commissioners: fort the Federal Funding for Bridges. PeggyJ Jamison Flowers, delivered. $32.00. Beccie will be doublechecking with Cookie & Alysha Noble to see if they still need a sponsor. Formal Flood Wall Levee Report-1 The flood wall inspection went as good as it could have. Nothing major to report. There are steps on the W.V. side that someone. had dug into the retaining wall, that will need to be filled in. The normal vegetation along both sides of the river needed to be addressed. Michael Hechmer stated that he might be able to get us one for free. pens for Homecoming.
