COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES VILLAGE OF WESLEY CHAPEL Organizational Meeting 6490 Weddington Road, Wesley Chapel, NC28104 December 4, 2023-7:00PM The Village Council of Wesley Chapel, North Carolina, met at Village Hall at 6490 Weddington Road, Wesley Chapel, North Carolina. Attending Members Bledsoe and Mike Como. Absent Members None Attending Staff Minutes 1.Call to Order Mayor Amanda Fuller, Mayor Pro Tem David Boyce, Council Members: Lori Bailey, Deb Finance Officer/Clerk Kathy Queen Mayor Fuller called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. A quorum was present. Mayor Fuller led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Mayor Pro Tem Boyce requested for a local pastor to lead the invocation. 2. Oaths ofOffice Incumbents Mayor Amanda Fuller, Mayor Pro Tem David Boyce and Council Member Lori Bailcy took thc Oath of Officc with their left hands on the Bible and the: right hand held high. Mayor Pro Tem Boyce nominated Council Member Bailey to be the new Mayor Pro Tem. MOTION and second were made by. Mayor Pro Tem Boyce and Council Member Como to appoint Lori Bailey as the Mayor Pro Tem and was unanimously approved. 3.1 Elect Mayor Pro Tem 4. Council and Mayor Comments Council Member Como stated he is proud to have served on this committee over the past two Council Member Bledsoe thanked Council Member Boyce for his service as Mayor Pro Tem years. It has been a good Council, and they are easy to work with. and thinks Mayor Pro Tem Lori Baily will do equally as well. Council Minutes - Organizational Meeting 2023-12-04 Pg.1 Mayor Pro Tem Bailey stated this has been a very productive Council over the past four years. They have covered some tough issues but have always done what was best for Wesley Chapel, Council Member Boyce stated he is thankful he was encouraged to do a second term. He noted his appreciation for everyone who helped him at the polling sites, including his nephews, Mattie, other Council Members, and his wife. Council Member Boyce noted the principles of Wesley Chapel are still important and haven't changed. During the campaign, Council Member Boyce heard from some people they would like the Village to loosen the purse strings and invest more int the Village. Council Member Boyce thanked Kathy Queen, Clerk, for efforts to date made on the current website. He stated there are many complaints about traffic and that maybe the Village needs to reach out to other agencies for assistance and resolve. Council Member Boyce noted the Village needs to continue to try to preserve land and has made a good start with the newly revised, adopted Conservation Subdivision Ordinance. He discussed a need to put more emphasis on preserving the Village's heritage and noted there are other areas which the Village and it is a pleasure to serve. can improve. Mayor Amanda Fuller Mayor Fuller noted she has served on the Council for a number of years, and they have not always been easy. However, the past four years have been much better, and a lot was accomplished. She is excited to see what the next two years will bring.
