MINUTES OF A SPECIALCOUNCL MEETING SEPTEMBER 19,2017 The Hollywood Park City Council: met in a Special session on September 19, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in' Town Hall. Notice was posted in accordance with the Texas Open Meeting Laws. Mayor Chris Fails called the meeting to order with the following Council Members present: Mike Howe, Debbie Trueman, Oscar Villarreal and Scott Bailey. Also present: City Treasurer- Anita Navarro, Police Chief-Shad Prichard, Fire Chief-John Butrico, City Attorney- Michael Brenan and City Secretary-Janice Alamia. [Councilman Chris Murphy was not present at the special meeting due to traffic congestion] DISCUSS/TAKE POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE AN ORDINANCE MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE TOWN OF HOLLYWOOD PARK, TEXAS, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 2017 AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2018; AND ADOPTING THE ANNUAL BUDGET OF THE TOWN OF Mayor Fails called for roll call vote to approve the Ordinance, making appropriations for the support of the Town ofHollywood Park, Texas, for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2017 and ending September 30, 2018; and adopting the annual budget of the Town of Hollywood Park for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. Roll Call Vote: CM Howe-Aye, CM Trueman-Aye, CM Villareal- HOLLYWOOD PARK FOR THE 2017-2018 FISCAL YEAR. Aye, CM Murphy-Absent, CM: Bailey-Aye. The vote passed unanimously. DISCUSS/TAKE POSSIBLE ACTION ON AN ORDINANCE LEVYING AD VALOREM TAXES TO ADOPT A TAX RATE OF $.510081 FOR USE AND SUPPORT OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OF THE TOWN OF HOLLYWOOD PARK, TEXAS, FOR THE: 2017-2018 FISCAL YEAR; PROVIDING FOR APPORTIONING EACH LEVYE FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES; WHEN TAXES SHALL BECOME DUE AND WHEN SAME Councilwoman Trueman made a motion that the property tax rate be increased by the adoption of at tax rate of$0.510081, which is effectively a 3.74% increase in the tax rate. Councilman Bailey SHALL BECOME DELIQUENT IF NOT PAID. seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. DISCUSS/TAKE POSSIBLE ACTION TO RATIFY THE VOTE ADOPTING THE 2017- 2018 BUDGET WHICH INCLUDES A PROPERTY TAX RATE THAT RAISES MORE Councilwoman Trueman made the motion to ratify the vote adopting the 2017-2018 budget which includes a property tax rate that raises more revenue than the prior year's revenue. Councilman REVENUE THAN THE PRIOR YEAR'S REVENUE. Bailey seconded the motion.
