Voter Registration Activities Over the past month, staff has done an awesome job working through the voter registration applications received since the General Primary! Our county remained in a processing freeze while most counties in the state conducted Runoff elections. Over 7,000 voter registration applications were processed In. July. Nomination Petitions were received for three candidates (Dr. Cornel West, Robert F. Kennedy, and Claudia De la Cruz) qualifying as Independent candidates for the office of President of the United States. Staffi isin the process of verifying signatures and will process these in GARViS by the end oft the week. Absentee Ballot Applications for civilian voters can be accepted starting on Monday, August 19. Voter Challenges The records for the voters challenged inj June and July have been marked accordingly int the system based on the BRE's decisions. These counts are reflected in the statistics presented in today's report. As was discussed by the BRE ini their July 22 meeting and appears on the agenda for today's meeting, a challenge was received on July 8, 2024 containing 831 names. This challenge is based solely on data from the National Change of Address (NCOA) database, as maintained by the United States Postal Service. This challenge has been administratively dismissed. Election Equipment. /Supplies Routine charging and inventory of touchscreens and printers was completed in the month of July. Charging and inventory of ballot scanners and UPS battery units are in progress. Our office has been advised by the Logic and Accuracy (L&A)t testing oft the election equipment tol be used during the November 05, 2024, General Election and Special Elections is estimated to being within the first two weeks of September. L&ATesting will continue day to day including weekend days, if needed, until complete. Testing of the election equipment is set to begin daily no earlier than 6:00 a.m. and will not continue past 11:00 p.m. daily and while testing will occur during these hours, it may not take place the entire time each day. IS&T/Software/Hardware Building Update Disaster Recovery Training/Outreach Three New Poll Worker Preview Sessions were heldi in July.
