Mr. Strickland did not appear at the meeting due to a work emergency. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Councilman Springs gave an update on the Committee on Justice & Public Safety. Councilman Springs stated the Committee on Justice & Public Safety met on September 13, 2024, at 8:00 A.M. to receive a presentation from the fire consultant about the consolidation or future consolidation of the fire district. The Committee received the suggestions and is awaiting the final report before taking any further action on it. Florence County proposes to utilize a portion ofi its ARPA funds for the purchase of a BearCat for Public Safety initiatives for the amount of $362,386.00. The allocation of $1,000,000 to the Town of Olanta will extend a water line and provide for an interconnection between two systems. The allocation of $216,196 to the Town of Scranton will be utilized for water line expansion for Division 1, and a tank for Division 2. Florence County reallocates a portion of its ARPA funds $97,000.00 to Emergency Medical Services, to contract with Healthcare Strategist to conduct and complete a detailed EMS department study and review ofservices provided. Florenc County ARPA funds must be obligated by December 31, 2024. The motion was approved unanimously by all the members present.
