DEPARTMENT HEADS MINUTES OCTOBER 9, 2024 Meeting to convene with Pledge of Allegiance The Department Heads meeting was called to order by' Todd Holmes-ITat8:35, AM. Those present were Brandon Beechley, Collin Koop, Cory Wall, Dave Hornung, Pam Mills, Scott Stinnett, Stan Hitchcock, Susan Corliss, Theresa Korbelik, Todd Holmes, and Valerie Boyd. Abbey Mullis, Ashley Hernandez, Heather Morris, Jennifer Gribble, Randy Gorton, Shawn Franz, Terry Hubbell, Travis Belden, and' Travis Gale were absent. Department Head Monthly Reports: Administrator Theresa Korbelik Presenting the draft budget to the commissioners today; there will be two weeks for public review. The draft budget public hearing will be October 23. Evaluations are due by the 15th of November; reviews will be scheduled with Department Heads. Monday is a holiday SO the county offices will be closed; invoices for payments are due on Friday. Clerk & Recorder- - Susan Corliss Iti is election season; the ballots will go into the mail on Friday, October 11. The training for over 25 election judges has been completed. She expressed her appreciation as her staff and others in the county that have really helped during the last couple months to keep everything running smoothly. Commissioner - District 1 - Stan Hitchcock Commissioner - District 2- Cory Wall Road & Bridge District 1 has been fixing a damaged road. The mowing is still going on. Noted that the road dirt condition is the same across county. A lot of screened material is ready to go on the roads. Al black-top striper has been purchased to mark the center of the roads following chip seal. Commissioner - District 3-1 Dave Hornung Road & Bridge District 3 has finished mowing and have started to haul gravel. The commissioners appreciate all of the work on budget by the Department Heads. It is important to keep county employees at a competative wage and good insurance. The exempt employees will meet the Federal guideline ofwages in 2025. The health insurance are going up 11%, while the CTSI CAPP& CWCP is going down based the past three year average. Extension Service - Scott Stinnett Agronomy - Ron is harvesting corn test fields and the winter wheat test plots have been planted. 4-H-1 new year started on October 1st. Achievement program had al light attendance on Sunday. There are now 8 clubs in the county with the same number of members around 200. FCS-McKayla has fall programs going and is working with the home schoolers to see ift there are programs that would help meet their requirements. 20241009 Department Heads Meeting Minutes Pagelof2 Grounds & Buildings Collin Koop Business as usual trying to catch up from the fair yet. HVAC is about figured out. Plains Heating & Air is working on the system now and has parts ordered for the Assessor and Treasurer offices. He went to Wisconsin to look a couple possible carnival rides. IT-Todd Holmes Election time always has an increase in scam emails. He appreciates the support of the employees on emails that are suspicious. Looking for a better email blocker like ProofPoint but it could slow down email delivery. No major projects at this time. Public Health Director- Valerie Boyd Solid Waste Director. Brandon Beechley Public Health is business as usual. Flu shots are going on throughout the county. Business is slowing down as usual during the fall. Century Link shut off the landline and is forwarding calls to Brandon's cell, while the line is not working. They have to dig up the line and find the problem with the connection. He will be going to check out the Yuma County Landfill and processes. The crushed concrete is moving slowly. Treasurer & Public Trustee Pam Mills Advertising is out for the Tax Sale on November 12. There were only two mobile homes and one isa already paid. Minerals may be under a new process. The taxes are 99.6% collected when last time checked. Tyler is not printing right now; Todd will contact support and help as needed. The office is busy sending out the first right of refusal letters. Stratton Transfer Site will be auctioned off on November 19th by the Treasurer's Office. Adjournment: The Department Heads Meeting adjourned at 9:01 AM.
