Mayor's Report- Presented by the Mayor- Mayor Wilkerson provided a TCOLE document and explained the document as the standards the state of Texas will implement on all Police Departments. Mayor stated that these standards have not been adopted yet. They must go to the state registrar for 30 days, then they are anticipated to be adopted by March 1, 2024. Mayor Wilkerson went over thei items on the checklist and stated that it will be added to the racial profiling report submitted by all police Departments annually. Mayor stated he brought this to the council's attention becauset they will probably see additional things on the upcoming budget for publicsafetysuch: asa ap potential increase in legali fees for our city attorney to review policies. Another thing that must be submitted is sustainable funding sources. He stated the definition of sustainable funding source is funding from the agency'sbodys such as property and sales tax, use andi franchise fees andi issuance of traffic citations subject to section 542.402 of the transportation code.
