Calll Meeting to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. 2. Roll Call: City Secretary Roxann Pullin provided the roll call with Mayor Williams, noting a quorum oft the following Council members Present: 1)Mayor Pro Tem Erika Gonzales 2) Council Member. Mayor Comments - Mayor Williams provided the following: Mayor stated he previously spoke with someone: regarding the current sequence when discussing action/discussion items on the agenda. He asked the council ift they would prefer tol have the sequence as follows: motion, second, then discussion. Currently, the sequence is discussion, motion, then second. Council member Beverly Felts stated that it would be better to discuss, motion, then second so they would not have to amend the motion. Mayor Walti in agreement. b. County Commissioner Comments - Commissioner Germann: The County Commissioner was not present for the meeting. Chief Strey was not present for the meeting. November 5, 2024 Election- Consideration and/or action for the City Council ofthe City ofNew Berlin, Texas to call/order the November 5, 2024 City of New Berlin Joint General Election with Guadalupe County, approving the Guadalupe County Election contract to elect Mayor position whose term is expiring November 5, 2024, which is Mayor Walter Williams and Alderman positions whose terms are expiring November 5, 2024 which are Alderman Member Kim Schlichting and Alderman Beverly Felts. City ofNew Berlin City Halll Building Safety Concerns and Proposed Alterations- Consideration Mayor Williams introduced this item to the council. Council Member Mike Hale motioned to amend the current discussion of the $10,000.00 construction contract bid to $13,000.00. This $3,000.00 increase is to add the following to the construction contract bid: removal ofsliding glass door/frame it/add siding on the outside wall and to add electric to the digital sign pole located outside next to the parking lot. Mayor Williams recognized Council Member Mike Hale who moved to approve. Council Member Beverly Felts New Berlin Playground Walking Path- Discussion/Action regarding construction of a walking track at Mayor Williams introduced this item to the council. Jeff Schlichting asked if we could add outside lights on the walking path. Council Member Kim Schlichting provided bids that Jeff obtained from three separate companies. Council Member Kim Schlichting motioned to approve the bid from Coats of Armor. Council! Member. Joyce Wolfe: seconded the motion. The vote of5-0. Motion carried. and/or action. seconded the motion. New Berlin Road Plan - Discussion/Action ofa draft road plan for the City ofNew Berlin and repairs on Mayor Williams introduced this item to the council. Council Member Kim Schlichting provided a map of city-maintained roads along with three bids from contractors to repair parts of Schwab and Linne Road. Kim would like a long-term plan on road maintenance and asked for suggestions sO she can take back to the county for discussion. Mayor Williams stated that he along with Mayors across the surrounding area will be getting together with the county commissioners to discuss future road plans and changes. Since, City ofNew Berlin is responsible for less than one mile of road on Linne we may consider working up a deal with the county to repair Linne Road and add sections ofs. Santa Clara Road into the agreement. Council Member motioned to approve the bid from Coats of Armor to patch sections of Schwab and Linne Road. Council Member Beverly Felts seconded the motion. The vote of5- e. City Public Safety Screening Camera's- Discussion/Action regarding Flock Safety Solutions. Mayor Williams introduced this item to the Council. Representative Hayden from Flock gave al brief discussion on how the cameras work and why they are beneficial for the city. Currently over7 surrounding cities/counties are using this system.
