Son Co Madison, Virginia 22727 Madison County Planning Commission Workshop Meeting Minutes September 18th, 2024 The Madison County Planning Commission Workshop meeting was held in the Madison County Administrative Auditorium at4 414N. Main Street int the Town of Madison, Virginia it was called to order by Chairman Steve Carpenter at 6:29PM. Chairman Carpenter determined there was a quorum and the first order of business was to adopt the agenda and approve the minutes from the September 4th Joint Planning Commission Meeting. Asa quorum was established the following members were present, Chairman Steve Carpenter, Vice-Chairman Pete Elliott, Commissioners Nathan Cowan, Zack Whitman, and Mike Snider. Commissioner's James Graves III and. Jim Smith were absent. Also, present were Hannon Wright; County Attorney, Jonathon Weakley, County Administrator (acting Zoning Administrator), Secretary of the Planning Commission Janet Henshaw and Allen Nichols New Zoning Administrator. Assistant County Administrator Brian Gordon was absent. Chairman Clay Jackson and Vice-Chairman Carty Yowell for the BoS were also present. Adoption of Agenda Commissioner Mike Snider moved to adopt the agenda and Nathan Cowan seconded. This motion was carried by all members saying "Aye", none opposed. New Business A. Adoption of Minutes- September 4th, 2024 Commissioner Mike Snider moved to adopt the minutes and Commissioner Zach Whitman seconded. This motion B. The project, known as Self-Storage of Madison- Addition, is proposingt to constructar new: 12,000 square foot self-storage building andt travel aisles. Pursuant to Appendix 1 (Zoning), Article 9-1-25: storage facilities are al by-right use int the M-1 zoning district. The total project site areai is 8.758 acres. At total of approximately 1.38 acres will be disturbed during construction. The property isi improved by an existing historic manor house, outbuilding cottages, and barn. The applicant proposes to operate an event venue consisting of the existing building, convertingal horse stable into av wedding façility, and adding 10 separate 200 square feet cabins Jonathon Weakley stated that their plan is to renovate: al horse stable to use for weddings and events.
