137 West Newton Borough Regular Meeting Aprilgth,2 2024 The regular monthly voting meeting of West Newton Borough Council was held on Monday, April gth, in Council Chambers, 112 South Water Street. Council President. Jason Cooper called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Council members Jason Cooper, Dan Palfey, Randy Shincovich, Gary. Johnson, Tony Berarducci, and Terri Eckels were called present during roll call. Mayor, Mary Popovich, Solicitor Sam Dalfonso, Engineer Dalton Mack and secretary/Treasurer Ashley Pergola were also present. Council member Dan Roebuck was not present. The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance. Before public comment Council President Jason Cooper thanked the Volunteer Fire Department, Public' Works crew, WN Police, Mayor Popovich, EMA and everyone else who had helped out during thei flooding on 4/3/2024, there was a great response int taking calls and assisting those in need. Delegates: Joyce Pawlik was present on behalf of CROWN to update about upcoming events. Ms. Pawlik stated she received a 3rd bench; this bench will be placed at 2nd streĂȘt park on the side walk for bus stops and the community. Diane Kimberly was present to speak to council regarding a complaint about the current garbage company and her properties. Solicitor Dalfonso will be addressing this with her after he reviews the Boroughs contract with Fayette Shelly and Billy Rupert were. both present on behalf of Bikers Helping Others to request permission from Council to use the pond again this year for their annual fishing derby May 19th. Council granted permission. Mr. Rupert will have the Debbie Gras was present on behalf oft the Little House Association. Ms. Gras explained to the community who the Little House Association is where they were built fort the girl scouts and this association still acts as a place fori the girlscouts to meet along with holding showers and: small events. Mark Mayors Report/Police Report - Mayor Popovich reported Mayor/Police report for February and March. The purpose ofthis special meeting is to discuss and take action on thet following: Purchase ofar new paint machine, accept quote for Fire Department doors, and accept the bid for South 5th Street.
