MINUTES CITY OF AMES, TEXAS 304 MARTIN DR. SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING APRIL 25, 2022 6:00 p.m.  The City Council for the City of Ames, Texas met in a regular meeting in council chambers at the Ames City Hall at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Cornelius Gilmore call the meeting to order at that time. Mayor Gilmore led the prayer, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Mayor Gilmore did the roll call, at that time the members of the City Council who were present are: Mayor Cornelius Gilmore, Michael Trahan, Carlton Rollins, and Eddie White, Audrey Harrison. Absent was  Barbara Domain. CITIZENAPPREARANCE attending citizens is attached.  Mayor Gilmore thanked the citizens for being here and to please silence your phones. SPECIAL SESSIONTO1 BEGIN  2022-01 - DISCUSS ANDTAKE, ACTION' TOAPPROVE THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN LIBERTY COUNTY AND THE CITY OF AMES, TEXAS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF AMES' SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM. Matthew Gott started the discussion by mentioning that the City of Ames should enter into an Interlocal Agreement with Liberty County for the $2 million grant money. He stated that when the engineers for the sewer projecti is selected, the City Council Members will be on the committee for the selection. Mayor Gilmore asked Mr. Gott, once the project is complete and ift there is any left-over funds, will those funds be forwarded to the City for further repairs on perhaps replacing sewer pumps and maybe to help clean out the 174 culverts within the City. Mr. Gott mentioned that he doesn'tt think there is going to be any funds left and that all funds have to be spent. Motion was made to enter an Interlocal Agreement with Liberty County. All were in favor and  passed unanimously.  Motioned by: Councilman Michael Trahan    Seconded by: Councilman Eddie White All in favor: 4 Opposed: 0 Abstained: 0  2022-02 - APPROVE THE HIRING FOR A CITY EMPLOYEE FOR THE Discussion was made that the City needs to hire another employee for the Maintenance Motion was made to hire a new employee. All were in: favor and passed unanimously.  MAINTENANCETECINICIANPOSITON.  Department.  Motioned by: Councilman MichaelTrahan Seconded by: Councilman Eddie White Alli in favor: 4 Opposed: 0 Abstained: 0  2022-03- - DISCUSS ANDTAKE ACTION ON A DATE FOR THE 50TH CELEBRATION. Discussion was made to scale down the budget tremendously and to determine a date for this event. Since this is the 50th year for the City of Ames to be incorporated as a city, there needs to be a celebration. Council Members suggested there needs to be a crawfish boil; perhaps having food truck vendors; or to just have cake and punch. It was also suggested tol have a town hall meeting  to discuss a budget for this event. There was: no further discussion at this time.  MAYOR'S REPORT None.
