SPECIAL SESSION MEETING FEBRUARY 13, 2024 Be it remembered on the 13th day of February at 1:08 o'clock P.M., there was Begun and Holden a Special Meeting of the Commissioner's Court in the Courthouse, in the town of Farwell, with the following members present, To-wit: Kirk Frye Charles Wilkins Kenny White Sharon May Susie Spring Isabel Izzy Carrasco Casey Russell Eric Geske, Sheriff Amy Dudley Commissioner Pct. #1 Commissioner Pct. #2 Commissioner Pct. #3 County Treasurer County Clerk Judge Absent: Also Present: Commissioner Pct. #4 When the following was had and done, To-wit: Call to Order 1. Prayer Commissioner Frye led the Court in prayer to begin the meeting. 2. Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag The Court pledged their allegiance to the flags of the United States of America and the State of Texas. 3. Open Forum for Public Comments There were no members of the public present. 4. Approve Minutes from Previous Meeting Upon motion to approve the minutes from the Regular Meeting on January 22, 2024, by Commissioner Frye, seconded by Commissioner White, the motion passed by majority vote. 5. Consider Approval and Payment of Accounts Payable-Sharon May Sharon May reported the Accounts Payable List for. January 24th 2024 which were the last of the 2023 invoices. She also reported the Accounts 1 Payable for February 1st and 12th 2024. Motion by Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Wilkins to approve Payment of the Accounts Payable as presented. Motion carried by majority vote. See attached. 6. Consider Treasurer's Payroll Report-Sharon May Commissioner Frye made the motion to approve the Treasurer's Payroll Report for January 31, 2024, Commissioner White seconded and the motion passed by majority vote. See attached. 7. Consider and Discuss Parmer County Senate Bill 22 Resolution Commissioner Frye read the Resolution approving Parmer County to apply for the Senate Bill 22. Upon a motion from Commissioner White to approve the Resolution, seconded by Commissioner Wilkins, the motion passed by majority vote. See attached. 8. Consider Any and all Matters Concerning the Parmer County Law Enforcement Center. Sheriff Geske stated that the Parmer County. jail is housing 35 inmates. 14 of which are from Lubbock County. The remaining 21 are Parmer The. sheriff reported one positive COVID individual from the staff. He also informed the Court that a Deputy that had been injured in a fight with an The Sheriff informed the Commissioners that Parmer County has been awarded a K-9 dog from the JIREH K-9 Academy in La Vernia, TX. This group trains the dogs and has classes for handlers for law enforcement The Sheriff has also received gifts of two kennels and a K-9 car insert for the dog. Deputy Salinas will be attending training for handling the dog. Sheriff Geske presented a grant request for Rifle Resistant Body Amour for the 2025 fiscal year from the office of the Governor.
