REGULAR MEETING MAY 23, 2022 Be it remembered on the 23rd day of May 2022 at 10:00 o'clock A.M., there was Begun and Holden a Regular Meeting of the Commissioner's Court in the Courthouse, in the town of Farwell, with the following members present, To-wit: Trey Ellis Kirk Frye Charles Wilkins Kenny White Casey Russell Sharon May Susie Spring Judge Commissioner Pct. #1 Commissioner Pct. #2 Commissioner Pct. #3 Commissioner Pct. #4 County Treasurer County Clerk Also Present: Eric Geske, Sheriff Izzy Carrasco Wendy Case Janelle Duffey When the following was had and done, To-wit: Call to Order 1. Prayer Judge Ellis led the Court in prayer to begin the meeting. 2. Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag The Court pledged their allegiance to the flags of the United States of America and the State ofTexas. 3. Open Forum for Public Comments No members of the public made comments. 4. Read and Approve Minutes from the Previous Meeting. Upon motion to approve the minutes from the Regular Meeting on May 9, 2022 by White, seconded by Wilkins, the motion passed. 1 Upon motion to approve the minutes from the Special Meeting on May 16, 2022 by Frye, seconded by Russell, the motion passed. 5. Consider Approval and Payment of the Accounts Payable - Sharon May Sharon May reported the Accounts Payable List for May 13th, 16th and 23rd Motion by Russell seconded by Wilkins to approve payment of the Accounts Payables as presented. Motion carried. See attached. 6. Consider Treasurer's Payroll Report-Sharon May Motion by White, seconded by Frye to approve the Treasurer's Payroll Report for May 13, 2022. Motion carried. See attached. 7. Consider Vehicles for Extension Office and Juvenile Probation Office Judge Ellis informed the Court that Janelle Duffey contacted him with concerns of transporting seven children to College Station in the Suburban the Extension Offices uses that has over 200,000 miles. The Judge proposed that the Court facilitate the transfer of the 2014 Suburban from the Sheriff's Office prior to this trip. Discussion was held and Commissioner White made the motion for the 2014 Suburban be transferred to the Extension Office and the older Suburban transferred to the Sheriff to use as a trade in on the unit he has ordered. Commissioner Frye seconded and the motion passed. Judge Ellis reported he had talked with Bailey County in regard to a vehicle for the Juvenile Probation Office and they have agreed to pay their 40% share. He stated he wanted to present this to the Juvenile Board to make sure the understanding was that they would provide gas and upkeep to the vehicle. The vehicle in discussion is the Traverse that Upon motion from Commissioner Wilkins to table this issue until further discussions can be held, seconded by Commissioner White, the motion the Sheriff's Office also has plans to trade in. passed. 8. Consider Bonds for County Clerk Deputy and County Treasurer Deputy Upon presentation of the bonds for BreAnn Saenz and Luciana Martinez, Commissioner Frye made a motion to approve them. Commissioner Russell seconded and the motion passed. 2 9. Consider Any and All Matters Concerning the Parmer County Law Enforcement Center Sheriff Geske reported 41 total inmates as of today, 25 of which are being Sheriff Geske reported on a very busy weekend for first responders in Parmer County. At approximately 7 PM a grass fire was reported south of Cargill. It covered a wide area and smoke reduced visibility on Hwy 60 and it was closed both Friday night and again early Saturday morning as the fire re-ignited.
