Commissioner Pete Morales recognized the PSJA Memorial Wolverines Tennis team for earning their 5th Tennis Tournament Championship in Harlingen. He congratulated. Salinas stated that) he hadd an opportunity to1 meet with Mr. Carlos Ginther Mr. Ginther asked ifthe Commission had any questions in regards to the Smart City permitting Commissioner Pete Morales stated that one of the concerns they had was the accessibility and easyz use of the program. He said that this program is people friendly and very easy to use. Mayor Pro-Tem Okie Salinas stated that if we do decide to move forward with this project, we Mr. Ginther stated that the. service they are presenting will also include marketing to educate the residents and let them know ofo any changes and or of what the City of Alamo has to offer. City Manager Robert L. Salinas stated that this new program will require employee training, further discussion with our Water Billing Department and. Planning Department as well. This Smart City Soft permitting program does not have aj fee for the City of Alamo. It will streamline and Commissioner Pete Morales. should let our residents know and keep them updated with any changes. the permitting process and offer assistance, making it much more convenient, for residents to pay for permits after regular hours. Salinas stated that on September 22, 2023, the City of Alamo was approached by Hidalgo County Precinct No. 1 stating they would like to help the Cityo of Alamo by allowing the use of8150,000 of their designated ARPA funds for eligible projects or equipment. We spoke to both Police Chief and Fire Chief and they stated this equipment was their top priority. The Police Chief mentioned this equipment will aid our police officers in providing better service and allowing them to be more well equipped toj perform their duties.
