JMB Investment Company LLCI has submitted a request forazoning map amendment (rezoning) forj property located on Old Airport Road, described as Tax Map Parcel 347-1-2." Thej property is currently zoned M-2, General Industrial District, and the request is to change the zone to B-1, Neighborhood Business District, sO they can construct a Dollar General store. A staff report, traffic studies, and a concept plan were presented at the meeting. At present, staff does not yet have an update from Engineering regarding a traffic proposal offered by the developer. A work session was held on Monday, August 26, 2024. A. joint public hearing with the City Council was held at the September 10, 2024, City Council meeting. Staffrecommends that thel Planning Commission recommend the Comprehensive Plan to the Mr. Detrick reported that he forwarded the updated draft from the September work session. Hei noted that staffincluded the implementation plan and updated the transportation chapter with recommendations from VDOT. Staffupdated Old Airport Road from Manufacturing to Mr. Detrick noted that the Bristol Redevelopment Housing Authority received a Choice Neighborhood Planning Grant for the neighborhood surrounding the former Virginia Intermont College. He said he submitted the information to the consultants to reference the Dr. Conco asked ifa an overseas private company currently owns the college. Mr. Detrick: said aprivate company owns the college and has no plans to sell the property. Mr. Detrick recommends amending the motion for approval to include the Choice Neighborhood Grant and update thel Future Land Use Map.
