Community Project Funding Representative Ken Calvert Ken Calvert, Congressional Representative greeted the Council and presented a check in the amount of $7 million dollars to the City of Calimesa. The funds have been allocated to three City projects, the Calimesa Blvd./County Line Road Intersection Improvements, Cherry Valley Interchange and an Emergency Operations Center. He stated that he would continue to work to request funding for the City of Calimesa projects. RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council approve the Supplemental Agreement with Riverside County Department of Housing and Workforce Solutions (HWS) for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Project No. 5.CM.05-24 for the amount of $27,283 for the construction of the Calimesa Library ADA Improvement Project, 9. Project No. 2023-09. SHERIFF CAPTAIN REPORT Captain Northrup reported the following: September stats included two assaults, one burglary, five vehicle thefts and ten thefts. He spoke about the department's Realtime Crime Center and explained the process of stopping crimes in progress. He reported a theft of a trailer from the Tractor Supply that was later located due to the assistance of the Flock cameras installed in the City. FIRE CHIEF REPORT Chief O'Connell reported thet following: 1,497 calls for service year to date with 66% of them being medical calls. He reported a six minute forty-five second response time, auto aid into Yucaipa 138 times with 57 of those being cancelled. He stated that they would be rotating the ladder truck into service as well. He announced the Fire Department Open House that would be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the Station. She further Mayor Pro Tem Hewitt reported that she attended a WRCOG meeting earlier in the day where they considered an agreement with So Cal Gas Company regarding renewable energy, received an update of the Love your Neighbor" program and stated that there are still unclaimed refunds from the PACE program. She stated that November 4th is the next Council Member Cervantez reported that he attended an RCA meeting earlier in the day where they discussed property purchased near Lake Elsinore and the Crotches Bumblebee was added to the endangered species list. He announced the MSHCP 20-year celebration event that would take place on Friday, October1 11,2 2024 at the Hidden' Valley Native Center Mayor Davis questioned whether batteries would be taken at the Community Clean-up day that would be taking place on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Public Works Director Shakir stated that batteries could be brought to City Hall, adding that CR&R picks them up for MEETINGS/CONFERENCES the agenda being posted as required by Government Code S5 54954.2(b). reported that she attended a candidate forum at Oak Valley Church. meeting. in Riverside. disposal. CITY MANAGER COMMENTS & REPORTS City Manager Kolbow announced the Community Clean Up event that would take place on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Mesa View Middle School from 8:00 am to Noon, He announced that construction on the final round-a-bout at 3rd Street and County Line Road has begun and the area would be closed 6 - 8 weeks. He added that the South Mesa Water Line Project would continue on County Line Road in coordination with the City project. He stated that businesses will remain open while construction is in progress.
