ROME GE-O-R-CA COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MEETING TUESDAY, October1, 2024 SAM KING ROOM 2:00 P.M. INA ATTENDANCE: Wayne Robinson (Chair), Jim Bojo, Bill Collins, Sammy Rich, Harry Brock, Molly Majestic, Bekki, Fox, Meredith Ulmer, Kelley Ledford, Lisa Smith, Mary Hardin Thornton, Becky Smyth, Dylan Nelson, Toni Rhinehart, Doug Walker APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Chairman Wayne Robinson called the meeting to order. The minutes oft the May 22, 2024, Community Redevelopment Committee meeting were approved by common consent. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: Bekki Fox provided program updates to the committee including: the CDBG Program's recent submission ofa new! 5-year consolidated plan to HUD. She also mentioned that the Housing Rehabilitation Program will again be offering assistance forr roof repair and exterior paint to low/moderate income families. Banty. Jones Park updates were also discussed. Fox explained that the park renovation project was over budget andi that ways to cut costs were being investigated. Additional funds from the Choice Neighborhood Program are being sought. Fox also stated that the Land Bank Authority had closed on the 7 Forsyth Street build on August 30,411 Superba Avenue had been listed with Legacy Properties for $190,000 and that the Pennington Avenue build was progressing and would probably list for $224,000 once complete. Additionally, the LBA has purchased a home under construction on' Wax Road in the county for $49,000 and will place on the market once construction is complete for approximately $250,000. Fox stated that she and her team had led a nation-wide webinar for the Center for Community Progress regarding the LBA in August. DOWNTOWN TENNIS CENTER: Lisa Smith stated that there were no changes/updates to the last report given at the May 22nd meeting. Chair Robinson stated that a meeting would need to be set up with Atrium to present to cost figures to them. Page212 TAD: Sammy Rich updated the committee on the Hilton Home2Suites TAD application that had been received. The application is currently being reviewed by Floyd County, who has 30 days to determine their support oft the application. The application willi then go tot the Rome Floyd County Redevelopment Agency. Ifthat agency decides to approve the application, it will then go before the Rome City Commission. Rich asked the committee to share their thoughts on supporting TADs in the future. Chair Robinson stated that there are a few that they may' wish they didn'thave, but that didn'tmean that they should shut the door to all future applications. OTHER BUSINESS: Mary Hardin Thornton stated that the ECO Center construction was coming along and that a walk through was scheduled for October 15. She also shared that repair work to stabilize Unity Point would start within the week with construction fencing, surveying and erosion control. Tris Scapes, Inc. would be leading the project.
