BURKE COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS 2128 SOUTH STERLING STREET-SUITE 100  MORGANTON NC 28655 TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 10, 2024 REGULAR MEETING  10AM  Attending; LHI Kirksey, Sandi Walker, Beverly Carlton, Linda Walker, and Guests; Barbara Myers, Dot Williams, Diane Scott, and Ann Moncrief. Chairman LH Kirksey called the meeting to order at 10:07 AM, led the Public comments: Barbara Myers asked about clarification on voter ID. All approved. Kenny presented clarification on the discussion and motion to approve board members (one from each party) to review rather than "verify" the absentee ballots with exception forms prior to the absentee ballot meetings.  Note: This was from the previous regular meeting.  Chairman LH Kirksey made a motion to add discussion on the status of the sidewalk changes at the Senior Center to the agenda and approve the agenda  as amended. All approved.  Business. All approved.  Director Rhyne presented the list of Early Voting workers.  Sandi Walker made a motion to approve the list as presented by the Director. He then reported on the return of 61 thousand ballots printed for the general election. This was due to the We the People Party candidate requesting his Proofing of the new ballots is completed and the order for the new ballots was  name be removed from the ballot.  placed this morning.    Director Rhyne gave the board members a report on the SAFE assessment for Ourwindow has been replaced at the counter to protect the employees. The Director will be sending a letter to the county manager, Brian Epley, to  McDowell County for reference with our report.  inform him of the assessment.  Linda Walker reported three press releases have been sent out to local media outlets. She and Beverly Carlton had worked on putting the information together. Kenny reported the legal notices for the election have been submitted as required by the NCSBE from the state template. Ads will be placed in the The Precinct Election Day notebooks have been established and will be in the packets for the chief judges. This is a complete collection of information necessary for election day procedures. All color coded for convenience. Chairman Kirksey gave the board members an update on the status of the sidewalk changes for the Senior Center. Itis expected to be ready for the Early  "Paper".
