CITY OF COOPER JULY 24, 2024-5:00PM  CITY COUNCIL MEETING-SPECIAL BUDGET WORK: SESSION  MEMBERS PRESENT: DARREN BRADDY; MAYOR, DAVID PHILLIPS, SCOTTY DEATHERAGE, LINDA BARNES,  DIANE STEGALL AND. JOSH HOSKISON CITY ATTORNEY: JAY GARRETT ABSENT OTHERS: EMILY HOWSE AGENDA ITEM: #1 AGENDA ITEM: #2  Mayor Darren Braddy called the meeting to order and Darren also voiced the prayer.  Mayor Darren Braddy presented to the council the upcoming proposed 2023-2024 budget for review. Mayor Braddy stated that entry level salaries were raised substantially last budget year and only the City Secretary, WTP/WWTP Superintendent, WTP/WWTP Operator and the City Foreman position needed to Code Enforcer position was discussed in detail with the concept of trying to find someone that would A time warrant for two new vehicles and a sewer vac trailer was discussed. One of the vehicles would be  bei increased this budget year. accept a part time position.  for the Code Enforcer and the other would be for the WTP/WWTP. More aggressive actions, for code non compliance repeat offenders, was discussed. Possibilities of selling the McKinney House was discussed.  After much discussion of the cost increases, new additions, raises, street repairs, and utility rate increase for the upcoming year, no changes to the proposed budget presented were implemented at this time. It was the consensus oft the council to further discuss this at the regular meeting on August 14, 2023.  AGENDA ITEM #3 TIME: 6:50 PM APPROVED: fa  Linda Barnes made the motion to adjourn.
