City of Midway City Council Meeting Minutes February 27, 2023  The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by Mayor Brenda Ford.  The invocation was given by Councilman Marc Nelson, Mayor Ford led the Pledge. Those in attendance included Mayor Brenda Ford, Assistant City Secretary Allison Basinger, Councilmembers Gus Kangos, John Whitmire, Brandee Curtis and Marc Nelson. Janet Boone was also in attendance. City Secretary Debra Newkirk, Councilman Rex Newkirk and Wes Savage were unable to attend. the second and will all being in agreement the motion carried.  Gus Kangos made the motion to approve the Consent Agenda; John Whitmire made  No guests were in attendance.  Ordinance No. 2023-04 was presented to Council; this ordinance is declaring unopposed candidates in the May 6, 2023 general city election elected to office and calling for the cancellation of the general city election. The three council members that were re-elected are John Whitmire, Rex Newkirk and Gus Kangos. Marc Nelson made the motion to approve the ordinance; Brandee Curtis made the second and with  all voting in agreement the motion carried. Staff Reports were given at this time.  Janet Boone gave the water report stating that Wes Savage was lowering ACH in the water and has seen improvement in the sediment in the tank. She also reported that the AMPSS Site Visit went well and all information necessary was provided. Janet Boone gave report that the slab was scheduled to be poured in the upcoming week for the aeration system and that the Load Sheet was submitted to Entergy for the  project.  No City Secretary's report was given.  With all of the business being completed, Councilman Gus Kangos made the motion to adjourn, Councilman John Whitmire made the second and with all being in agreement  the meeting adjourned at 7:16pm.
