Page 665 Page1of2  MINUTES September 23, 2024  SPECIAL CALLED CITY COUNCIL MEETING  The City Council oft the City of. Jasper, Texas met on September 23, 2024, with thet following  members present to wit:  Anderson M. Land, Jr.. Marcus Barber... DeMarcus Holmes.. Ronald Sample.. Angel McCroskey.. Lequin Hilderbrand. Greg Kelley.. Liz. Jarrell..  Mayor Council Member Council Member/Absent Council Member Council Member/Absent Council Member .City Manager City Secretary  The meeting was called to order by Mayor Anderson Land at 6:00pm and opened with prayer by Council Member Lequin Hilderbrand. All members were present to wit except Council Members  DeMarcus Holmes and Angel McCroskey.  Mayor Anderson Land asked for public comments and there were none.  Motion was made by Council Member Lequin Hilderbrand to approve Resolution No. 3015-2024 Tax Rate. Seconded by Council Member Marcus Barber. Two' Voted int favor being Council Members Lequin Hilderbrand and Marcus Barber. One voted opposed being Council Member Ronald Sample. Motion was madel by Council Member Lequin Hilderbrand to approve A) Ordinance No. 092324A- Tax Rate Adoption and B) Ordinance No. 092324B-Tax Roll Appraisal and Levy. Seconded by Council Member Marcus Barber. Two Voted in favor being Council Members Lequin Hilderbrand and Marcus Barber. One voted opposed being Council Member Ronald Sample. Motion passed 2-1. Motion was made by Council Member Ronald Samplet to approve appointing a rating committee for the 2025-2026 Texas Community! Development Block Grant consisting of City Manager Greg Kelley, City Secretary Liz Jarrell, and one council member. Council Member Ronald Sample volunteered to be on the committee. Council Member Lequin Hilderbrand appointed Council Member Ronald  Motion passed 2-1.  Sample. Motion passed unanimously.    Page 666 Page2of2  During Council Time Open Discussion, Council Member Lequin Hilderbrand asked council to gather their top candidates fort the Police Chief position tol bei in an executive session at1 the next regular called city council meeting. Council Member Ronald Sample requested to add to executive session at the next regular called city council meeting concerning the City Manager Salary.
