MINUTES Forney Parks and Recreation Board Wednesday, September 18, 2024 .CALLMEETINGTOORDER The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, in the Council Present were Chair Cory Wiggins and Commissioners: Obed Centeno, Shanada Hammons, Morgan Waits, Diane McPherson (arriving at 7:03 p.m.) and Alexa Beasley (arriving at 7:03 p.m.). Absent was Also present from staff were Parks and Recreation Director Kyle Rouvaldt, Administrative Assistant Andrea Lyons, Sports Manger Dodie Witt, and Recreation Assistant Brandon Hill. Chambers, City Hall Annex, 101 El Main Street, Forney, Texas. Commissioner Deidra Henry. 2. INVOCATIONPLEDOE OF ALLEGIANCE Commissioner Centeno delivered the Invocation and Commissioner Waits led the Pledge of Allegiance. 3. CONSENTI AGENDA 3.I.Approval OfThe August 21, 2024 Minutes. Commissioner Hammons made a motion to approve the item with no changes. Commissioner Waits seconded the motion. Motion carried. Ayes (4): Chair Wiggins and Commissioners: Centeno, Hammons, Waits Absent when vote taken (2): McPherson and Beasley Absent (1): Commissioner: Henry Nays (0): None 4. OPEN FORUM The following addressed the Park Board: Ms. Sandra' Taylor spoke about hosting Quickfoot soccer tournaments at Forney Community Park fields 5.D DISCUSSION ITEMS 5.1. Discuss Forney Recreational Sports - Presentation On Year In Review Director Rouvaldt presented a report on the 2024 Forney Recreational Sports season with no direction forthcoming from the Board. The report included registration numbers for youth baseball, softball, co-ed t-ball, as well as the numbers for the adult leagues.. Also included was the amount of sport passes purchased by residents and non-residents for years 2023 and 2024. 5.II. Discuss FY: 25 Parks and Recreation Projects Director Rouvaldt informed the Board oft the budget approval for the fiscal 2025 year. The budget approval will allow the following CIP (Capital Improvement Program) projects to take place: additional tennis and pickleball courts, updates for Heritage Hill playground including new design and installation to become an all-inclusive park, community park trail extension, as well as community park pavilion flooring. Parks and Recreation Board Minutes- - September 18, 2024 Page 2 Director Rouvaldt also informed the board that the city will now be taking over youth soccer. With the approved budget there will be two full time positions available to manage the youth soccer league. Board requested to have soccer put on the agenda for the next meeting, Wednesday, October 16"h, to have an update on this process and discuss what coordinating youth soccer will look like. 5.III. Discuss North Side Park Master Plan - Update Director Rouvaldt asked the board to start thinking about what type of programs and designs they envision for the North Side Park Master Plan. This item will be appearing on the next few agendas to openly discuss ideas in preparation for future discussions with Parkhill. 6.[ DEPARTMENT REPORT Parks and Recreation Update Upcoming Special Events Recreational Opportunities Director Rouvaldt presented the updates as noted. 7.
