Citizens Care Citizens Nursing Home Board Meeting August 29, 2024 Call to order: Citizens Care Board Chair Patricia Scott-Badeker called the meeting to order at 10:04 am. Wendall Baxter, Heather Cantos (for Jacob Bennett), Shobita DuBois, Carol Lienhard, Patricia Scott-Badeker, Rodney Swam, and Cathy' Vincenti. John Correri Jr., Andrew' Young, and Kim Zavrotny were absent. Cathy" Vincenti left at 10:49 am. Heather Cantos left at 11:25 at which time Board Members present: Shobita DuBois took over the minutes. Itwas determined that a quorum was present. Staff present: Ed Walter Administrator, Cassie Evering - Director of Nursing, Keith Streett - Business Operations. Approval of Minutes The minutes from July 25th, 2024 were approved. Covid Outbreak status: Not currently in outbreak status. September 23rd Flu vaccine clinic 10am-2pm. October 10th Flu and Covid vaccine clinic 10am-2pm. Nursing Report - Cassie Evering Vaccinations: Preparing for Flu and covid vaccine clinics through Giant pharmacy. Fall GNA class updates: Over 50 applicants. Over 30i interviews were scheduled. 17 showed up to interview. 10 offers have been prepared - 8 (maximum) students and 2 alternates. Administrator's Report - Ed Walter Census: Outreach: The average daily census for July was 117. There were 15 admissions, 8 discharges, and 9 deaths. Sponsored luncheon with the Churchville Golden Agers Club, presented education Applied for and accepted in the University of Maryland Post acute Care Collaborative. There were 9 new hires (2 LPN, 3 GNA, 1 Hospitality, 1 Nursing Admin, 1 Billing, 1E EVS sessions. Human Resources: tech) and 4 departures (1 retired). Facility Turnover 2.26%. 2Losses, both resolved. Losses/Concerns: 2Concerns (one shower schedule related, one roommate conflict). Financial Report - Keith Streett Occupancy: 82.3%. Budget VS. actual: Payer Mix: 72% Medicaid, 16% Private, 11.5% Medicare/Managed Care. Dietary wage expenses were higher than budgeted last month due to filling vacation hours. Medicare and Private care over budget. Medicaid budgeted at a lower rate than received. plumbing repairs, and fire alarm repair. transportation costs. Staffing under budget but continuing to work on agency use VS. staff. Maintenance over budget due to major expenses such as hydraulic oil in elevators, Nursing over budget due to costs of nursing supplies, prescription costs, and Mr. Walter explained that while budget is created on historical actuals, new patients have different medications and diagnoses that may increase costs. Shobita suggested a "Fund the Need" fundraiser for a transport van to cut down on costs. Old Business Facility and Building Update: Dietary Food Carts expected delivery 8/29/24. Structural Site Survey received 7/18/24. Proposal for renovation was halted due to County budget. Citizens Care will create a model room with basic renovations to see what can be done and how much each room might cost.
