Xavier Cortada; and Alternate Valerie Theberge WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. AIPP-R-23-014, the AIPPB also approved with conditions an additional expenditure of up to Nine-Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($9,500.00) for a total allocation of Twenty-Three Thousand Dollars ($23,000.00) to be used for design services, commissioning, acquisition, and installation of public art for the for the new restrooms at the Property; and WHEREAS, the City entered into contracts with the five (5) shortlisted artists for design proposals, with each artist receiving a Five Hundred Dollar ($500.00) honorarium for a total expenditure of up to Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00) for the preparation of such proposals; and WHEREAS, up to Twenty Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($20,500.00) shall be used for but not limited to the creation, acquisition, permitting and installation of the public art for the new restroom facilities at David T. Kennedy Park; and WHEREAS, the City's Public Art Division convened a meeting of the PAC on August 20th, 2024, to review the commissioned proposals, hear presentations, and recommend one finalist to the AIPPB for the commission of the public art for the new bathroom facilities at the Property; and WHEREAS, the PAC having conducted a thorough review of the proposals, which are attached and incorporated as Exhibit A, moved to recommend Aldo Coronel as the finalist for the public art commission for the Property; and WHEREAS, the PAC and City's Public Art Division find the public art installations as proposed by artist Aldo Coronel to be in accordance with the intent and criteria of Section 62-658 of the City Code, titled "Selection of Works of Art", and the Public Art Master Plan and Public Art Program Guidelines pursuant to Section 62-655 (c)(4) of the City Code and recommend approval of artist Aldo Coronel as the finalist to commission the public art for the Property.
