The Village was fortunate to suffer only" minimal" property damage in comparison to many other areas. In addition, due to the diligence of our Public Safety and Public' Works departments wei immediately began making sure our residents and guests were safe and accounted for and at this point all streets have been cleared within the Village. We still have monumental tasks going forward. Pockets of the Village remain without power and/or water service. The golf and tennis programs have ended for the season, due to the extensive damage caused by the storm. It will take time for us to bring these facilities back to pre- storm Iwould like to take a moment to express to the Council what an excellent workforce the Village employs. Without exception it was "all hands on deck" during the storm and in the immediate aftermath. Employees worked tirelessly regardless of the task to make sure residents and guests were safe, and all needs were met. It has been remarkable how the people of this Village have come together to help in any way they can for the good of Sugar Mountain. Compared to other We will be working with Avery County and FEMA to coordinate the complicated path to full recovery. As always, Iwill keep you posted on developments as we move forward. Tourism Development Authority (TDA) Board Meeting: The TDA Board met on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. The Board approved budget Amendment #1 FY 2024-25 for increased fees in the amount of $3,600 for the contract renewal with Bramble Marketing; effective November 1st. The Board approved funding in the amount of $13,300 to Sugar Mountain Resort for the 2024- 25 winter music line-up. The Board also approved funding to the Resort for advertising in the December issue of Our State Magazine. The Board had an extensive general tourism discussion focused on Sugar Mountain and the need for a plan moving forward. Dalton Kirby of Bramble The August 2024 collections of the occupancy tax showed a decrease of 5% in comparison to August 2023. The occupancy tax collections for the period September 2023 through. August 2024 status, with the hope they can be repaired by next spring. communities, Sugar Mountain restored near normalcy much quicker. Marketing submitted the attached September 2024 marketing update. ($845,674) have shown a $28,232 or 3.34% decrease in comparison to the same period of 2023 Golf and Tennis Operations: Golf activity in September came to a halt on September 24th as we received several inches of rainfall in the days leading up to Hurricane Helene. With that said, the month of September ($84,096) saw a decrease of $18,273, compared to September 2023 ($873,906). ($102,369). Tennis saw play through the 25th.s September revenues were up: slightly ($460) in comparison to September 2023. Overall, there was an increase of $6,579 or 15.86% in revenues for the period May- = September 25, 2024, in comparison to the same period in 2023. FY 2023-24 Annual Audit: Misty Watson has completed all fieldwork and the financial statements fori the FY2 2023-24 annual audit oft the Village. Upon my review, Misty will submit the financial statements to the Local Government Commission for approval. The General Fund balance showed an increase of $44,844, with an unassigned fund balance of$ $1,114,322 or 43.5% of the total General Fund expenditures for the fiscal year. The Village remains in a solid fiscal Property Tax Collections: Of the $1,435,966 total 2024 levy, $543,873 or 37.88% has been collected with a balance of $892,093 uncollected through October 10, 2024.
