Town of Bermuda Run Town Council Meeting Minutes September 10, 2024 - 6:00 PM The Town Council of] Bermuda Run held its scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Council Members Present: Mayor Mike Brannon, Mike Ernst, Rae Nelson, and Christy Schafer 6:00 PM. The meeting was held at the Bermuda Run Town Hall. Council Members Absent: JeffTedder Also Present: Andrew Meadwell, Town Manager; Cindy Poe, Town Clerk; and Brian Williams, Town Attorney Call to Order Mayor Mike. Brannon called the meeting to order and recognized the Quorum. Said that the mayor has seen the issues and that he has gone to Davie County Dept. of Health and Human Services. He added that, ifnecessary, he would get the news involved. Presentation Suzanne Wright, MPH, Director- Davie County Department of Health and Human Services Ms. Wright shared the many functions oft the Davie County Dept. ofHealth and Human Services including inspections of restaurants, food trucks (that have increased from 51 to2 25 in our county), tattoo parlors, grocery store delis, etc. They house the only OB provider in the county for prenatal care, but other than some at-home births, deliveries are: mostly done in other counties. Senior Services- including Senior Games, Meals on Wheels. Davie Center for Violence Prevention. Child Welfare Unit (Social Services) - 100% of children are in care due toj parental drug use. Dragonfly House and its service to abused children in Davie and surrounding counties. DCHHS is responsible for unclaimed bodies in Davie County, having cremations and burials at the Storehouse for. Jesus. They issue fishing licenses to people receiving government assistance. Almost 1/3 oft the county is on Medicaid, or qualifies for Medicaid. Council gave praise regarding the handling oft the Covid19 vaccinations with cooperation oft the Davie County Sheriff's Dept. Current job openings were discussed- -1 there are 10 Town Manager Comments Flags at the Blue Heron Trail project - "Coming Soon" signs going up. Kinderton Sidewalk Project update. Fire Hydrant Maintenance, Smoke Test in BR East, PTRC application for EV charging station grant. Bids for leafcollection received -3 contractors to be interviewed. Planning Board will not meet in September due to no action items. Mayor Comments - Vacancy on Council - he urged anyone interested to reach out to him. Special Occasion Band and North Tower concerts coming upi this month. Land Use/Zoning update.
