Police Chief Stewart led the gathering in the Pledge to the Flag. Al Roll Call of Members was then taken. Solicitor's Report Mr. Richard Start said Ihave nothing to report. Police Chief's Report Chief Stewart gave the Police Department Report for the month of August 2024. Fire Chief's Report Chief Spencer said in August 2024 the Coraopolis Volunteer Fire Department answered 18 calls; 11 mutual aid calls, 1 carbon monoxide call, 2 smoke detector calls, 2 elevator entrapments, 1f false alarm and 1 water emergency. Engineer's Report Mr. Drew Null directed everyone to the monthly report and said Riverfront Park; we met with the DCNR in the past month and are working toward closing out and requesting final grant funding through them. We will get a meeting scheduled to talk conceptual plan updates for future phases. Mr. Drew Null said Neely Heights Roadway and Waterline and Sewer Improvements; the pay request was on the agenda this evening. This is not thei final, we are: still holding 5% retainage which is about $35,000.00. The majority of work was Mr. Drew Null said Montour Street Roadway mprovements; we had a preconstruction meeting with the Contractor and Mr. Drew Null said Grant Applications; you had a number of resolutions this evening for demolition projects. Mr. Drew Null said Developments; there isa a new subdivision plan that came through in the past month. The County Mr. Drew Null said' Water and Sewer Authority; and directed everyone to the handout for the Annual MS4 Update as he completed this week and he continued to explain. their tentative schedule isi to start in the next two weeks. provided their review and we completed our review and a revised plan was returned this week. continued with training for the Borough Council. Mr. Mihalyi said isi there a plan for Montour Street? Iknow there was a meeting yesterday. Mr. McCutcheon said traffic control was discussed and we are going to try to at least get the trucks to go to Broadway, SO1 they can cross at thei traffic. signal and a discussion pursued. 4 Committee Reports/Comments from Council Mr. Flasco said Ihave nothing to report this evening. Mr. Mihalyi said Ihave nothing to report this evening. Mr. Bolea said I have nothing to report this evening. Ms. Marine said the Tot Lot Playground on the 1000 block of Ridge Avenue has opened. This was a renovation that has done over the course ofthis year. The playground is opened from dawn to dusk and we have surveillance cameras operating. We have worked with State Manor and have parking spots available near the playground and she continued Ms. Marine said regarding the Shade Tree Commission, Iwant to thank the volunteers who helped mulch new trees over the last month as well as our Board Member Tom who installed brick borders at the Town Square. We are working with the CCDC for a Cory Cleanup Day, scheduled for Saturday, October 12 at 9:00 am and will be focusing on the parks and to explain. the Central Business District. Ms. Haskins said Ihave nothing this evening. Mr. Szabat said Ih had a resident mention to me that when they walk dogs on 6th and 7th Avenues there are dogs that charge out at them and ladvised them to call the police right away. Mr. Szabat said regarding the library, the asbestos has been removed and the County has tested the air quality and have giveni it an all clear. When. some shelving that was bolted to the ceiling was removed al bow developed and a structural engineer will be there tomorrow SO we will wait for his assessments and recommendations. and he continued to explain. Mr. Szabat said the Coraopolis Historical Society has a space in the library! basement to hold their artifacts and there isn't al lot ofa activity going on there and Ms. Hampe has al high degree of use fort that space. The CCDC has agreed to take the Mr. Cardimen said the historical value of some of these artifact's date back to the inspection of this town, what is the lineage and the carei ift the CCDC goes out of business in five years? He continued to explain and a discussion pursued. Mr. McCutcheon said we may' want to put an agreement together stating that Council would get control of these items if Mr. Harris said Imet with Chief Stewart and the number of ordinance violation letters that went out is welcoming. That, along with the work of Mr. McCutcheon filing for the funding for the demolition projects throughout town is really great artifacts and keep them in their care and he continued to explain. the CCDC: should close and a discussion pursued. news for our Borough Borough Manager's Report Mr. McCutcheon said Ihave a meeting coming up with PennDOT where they will discuss the slide on Montour Street Extension and the bidding will probably start ini the fall of2025. We are, getting numerous calls from people saying this isn't safe and we do try to explain that iti isa a state issue and he continued to explain. 5 Mr. McCutcheon said we had a meeting with Chase Schemm, he's with GSRC Development and they would like to starta a conservatorshipi in Coraopolis. They! look at properties that are not being taken care of or have back taxes, SO we have asked them to come to the Workshop Meeting next month and give a presentation oft their plans. He continued to explain and a discussion pursued. Comments from the Public Ms. Tracy Baker Serba of 1818 Devonshire Road said Iwas here for the Workshop Meeting last week and Ilearned a lot. During the meeting you talked about the grass cutting ordinance and the height of the grass being six inches. Someone mentioned that some elderly people may not be able to keep their grass cut. Idid some research and in lowa, students ati this high school can earn PE credits by doing yard work for older and disabled community members: and she continued to explain. Mr. McCutcheon said Ican talk with Dr. Thomas. Catherine Cocco from 820 Chestnut Street said am on the school board at Cornell and llove this idea and will bring it up to the School Board the next time we have our meeting.
